Difference between Standard and Special Gibsons?

Hi fellas was wondering apart from the pick ups and inlays is there much difference between the Special/Standard versions of the SG/Explorer/Flying V?

Do they feel exactly the same?

Was just wondering if its worth going for the cheaper one .
