The amount of Dime guitars they are peddiling is really lame... I am glad I bought a Washburn Dime, the balance is way off and the pickups are junk other than it its pretty sweet, it's really sad that Dime was in between guitar manufacturers when he got killed... JACKSON should have made him a ML and the world would have been a better place for all Metal Heads!!!
You have to believe that Dime played on a Jackson or two in his life and you know didn't want to admit they kicked the crap out of those Deans.

IIRC, as soon as Dime was out of his Washburn contract, he went out and bought a couple Korean ML's with Floyds (as there were no USA production models with a trem), and played them live....so he must have really liked the Deans. He then worked with Dean designing the Razorback models, and died before they hit production. I have an older Korean ML select that plays fantastically, and a 2005 DOA V that is very nice too. I like gaudy guitars, so the headstock doesn't bother me in the least, but hey, I understand the look is not for everyone!

I played a Dean Shadow ML and was impressed with the tone and playability. It doesn't matter to me how the business is run, etc. Am I missing something here?

He did have a sweet blue Hamer ML copy made, too. And he was also photographed playing a couple Jacksons... I believe both RR5s, a black one and a white one.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Official music video for Pantera - "Psycho Holiday" from 'Cowboys from Hell' (1990)? Watch all of Pantera’s official videos here http://bit.ly/PanteraOffici...
Also TJ, I've seen him with a Soloist, but I think it may be a fake picture... Also a black King V, B.C. Rich Ironbird, and BCR Custom "ML meets Washburn sig" shape.Last edited by MetalHeadMat; 02-11-2011, 05:54 PM.

I have no love or hatred for Dean. Did any of you guys know that Dean was 2nd in line (behind Fender) when Jackson was bought? True story.
Chris, I don't get your reference to Jackson, Robbin, and Big Red, though; can you clarify? That guitar was not an official signature guitar and some of the things that were planned to happen with JCF 02 were not allowed because it would've become a signature series.

Also I was going to reply with that, but it didn't make much sense. Wasn't JCF-02 in cahoots with Robbin anyways? (I mean he approved of it)

My point was really to the effect that regardless of a company's intentions, ANY tribute (official or otherwise) is an honor to whomever it may be. To rag on Dean for doing Dime tributes, while looking past the Big Red or RR series, is kinda silly. Hell Zakk isn't even dead yet, and he has a bunch. AND I'M FINE WITH THAT! Who are we to say at the end of the day?
Sully, you know where I stand, and you know I would never say anything negative about that topic. There aren't too many people who were bigger fans on both a musical and personal level - beyond a few that we don't even have to mention.

Also, I feel Dean does have the right to be ragged on. When have you ever seen Dime use a "Razorback 7 string" or the Red/White Razorback for that matter. How about the "Rusted Dime From Hell"? I don't care how many tributes they do for him, just as long as he uses them, if you know what I mean?

Life's too short to waste it on hatin'. Most of their stuff is not for me, the headstocks more than the body shapes. But thats just not Dean. Jackson will likely be my brand of guitar for the rest of my life. As far as the "signature" models, if Daryll Abbot's family wanted to stop all the Dime models I'm sure they would let it be known.GTWGITS! - RacerX

Dime wasn't between manufacturers. He signed with Dean and Krank just weeks before his death and made a video saying he always liked Deans the best. He only went with Washburn because they would make a copy of the Dean ML for him and because Dean was a dead company at the time he made it and could get endorsements. Granted Dean has overdone it, but Dime was more enthusiastic about Deans than Randy may even have been about his Jackson Rhoads guitar. I'd have to think that Dime wouldn't begrudge that.
Me personally, not real crazy about Deans but I don't hate them at all. They play pretty good from what I see in the store, but again, they don't make me want one. Power to those who do, they can get a base model for $299-$399. A friend bought a bottom-line Schenker V a few years ago and he liked it.Ron is the MAN!!!!
