So I had procured a Jackson USA neck off of Pebber a while ago, but couldn't think of what I wanted to do (project wise) with it. So it got shelved. No rush. Something will come up I thought...
Now, I've always thought the 'Big Mouth' graphic was a great graphic idea because of the way it naturally followed the shape of a strat-type body. It made for a great layout on a guitar's top. My only complaint was that the imagery was, I guess, too clean. It's just: lips, a tongue and lots of clean white teeth. Well done, but too clean for my dirty mind.
So one night, while dropping the kids off, I was reading the paper. Read some article and it featured a photo that was made famous on the internet called 'meth mouth'. That's when it dawned on me: "Man I gotta stop smoking Meth." Kidding. I thought why not do a "FOUL MOUTH" version of the Big Mouth graphic. Something dirty, gnarly, crusty. Sores et al. I contacted the only man for the job: Dan Lawrence. Dan loved the idea. Once NAMM was over the magic would began.
I had Mitch from KNE Guitars send Dan a body. The 'Warren' - a very nice 2-piece body shape made of maple. Great company. Mitch does some killer work.
