  • Mystery custom luthier "R" brand. ANY HELP??

Hey guys, i have on the line a custom guitar I might buy. It has a R engraved in the headstock, this is the only markings on the guitar.

    The features:

    Neck thru
    Hardwood Laminate throughout the body
18 volt Seymour Duncan active pickups
    Ebony fretboard
    Grover tuners
    Wraparound bridge

Has any of you heard of a brand that starts with "R" that has a similar engraved logo? Its not a BC Rich either according to the owner.

Once I get pics I'll post them, probably later tonight.

Is it a circle with an R in it? If so, Ed Roman.

Anyone ever play any of Ed Romans guitars? "HE" def talks them up, thats for sure, but I've yet to see anyone of any significance playing one! They look like they would be great... but so did that piece of crap Kramer that I bought from MusicYo years ago. LMAO

Can't comment on a full guitar, but I built a replacement body for someone who had a body built from him. He had a bunch of complaints about it, along with the green Marbelizer finish, but it was decent. The only weird thing that I noticed was that the floyd post holes were drilled all the way through the cavity. Granted, I've never seen that before or since, but it was a decently made body and the paint was done well. Ed doesn't do any of the stuff, from what I've gathered, but he has a few pretty talented people building stuff for him.

For some insight into Ed Roman's brain, check out the house he designed:

Not really related to thread, but to the above post - That is a great area of CT, though the house looks like an oversized Hobbit hut.. not a bridge that I thought red-headed trolls were know for. I fish Squantz Pond (seen in the pics in the link) all the time.
Guess all those scams and crappy business practices paid off for him when he was in charge of East Coast Music Mall
