Just got back from the shop and have a few more progress pics. It looks like my control layout is going to be a bit more busy than I originally wanted. We can't figure out a way around the Fernandes circuit board and required controls. The other thing is we have changed the inlays to simple small 3mm dots offset, or a clean board with side markers?? He also bound the board with Brazilian and another wood. I like the wrap a lot! Cool thing is I ended up with (4) total fret boards out of my neck blank. So I need to get 3 more built. Lets see... a V, Firebird, Explorer... Hmmm...

"I leave off the back plate and pinch my forskin between the tension springs. That may not work for everyone. But I find that the people love it. Half the tone is in the pud." - Bill Z
Stunning grain on those woods. I love the fact that the headstock is bookmatched too. Is this going to be a set neck or bolt-on? The mini-dots look really sweet too.
Thanks man! Its going to be a long tenon set neck. The mini's are growing on me, and I like them with the binding. I had visions of a different inlay, but after seeing the fret board it changed a bit.

A few more progress pics. The body is getting its carve and the controls are drilled. Steve is finishing up the carve, then will start on the neck. I am waiting on my humbucker to arrive and then he can get that routed and get her off to finish!!!

Wonderful piece of wood, but I would have gone with a tremolo bridge, like a black Wilkinson or something like the Mann Made... and definitely a clean fretboard with side dots would look fantastic!
Here is the carve top nearly completed! Thanks to you Mazrim this is what I got! Great suggestion!!

Oustanding. I like the little black line between the body and the top. Great job on the carve as well.
Sully
Sully, thats was Steves idea with the black piece separating the two halves. Its all the same board but the grain was differing A LOT from the lower part to the upper. The board measured about 60" long by 9" wide by 8/4. So I re-sawed the board in half for a book match. Then We found the top in the lower part and the back in the upper half. So basically we re-sawed then folded to get the piece. Steve felt it needed a bit of separation, and I agree it came out great.
