me and a buddy were trying to figure out a company in i think czech or russia etc...that built high end copies of b.c.rich , jackson etc, can anyone remember the name or have a link? i remember on here maybe a couple of years ago links and uproar about these guys ripping the manufacturers off blatantly .

That'd be RAN, not Rand. Rand built very high end superstrats in the late 80s (Vivian Campbell used one in a Whitesnake vid). RAN build anything and everything that someone else has already done, out of Poland.
