  • Ibanez Swandive

    This just arrived

I thought it was unique enough to go for it. It's actually an 86 RG425PR...The pearl red is much darker in person...almost Ferrari red.

It's what I consider the era when Ibby began shreddifying their axes so I figured it would make a nice low buck ol' sister to the FP JEM.

Is it optical distortion or is that neck got some serious relief?

must be optical because the strings seem to bend too.

          Cheers guys,,,

No, it's an illusion, I straighned the neck before taking pics,,,lol

Actually the neck on this thing is awesome...a great axe all around for that matter and a good year for Ibanezes specwise...worst case is a pu swap but no panic there...

          Found this online...

Wow. I know Ibenhad have been ripping off other designs forever, but it's still amazing to see the old literature. The slanted pickup ripping off Kramer, now the Nightswan's double-hum setup. Then there's the light blue with reverse-slanted singles ala Jake's Charvels.

Then there's the flatter board radius ala Jackson, as well as the "smaller body size" to rip off the Soloist/Dinky.

            Truly sad.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Well, Charvel didn't exactly reinvent the wheel with their superstrat design, did they?

Well, I hear what you are saying as I have my fair share of Kramers and Nightswans but it's kind of interesting that this Ibby came out in 86 and the Swan came out in 87.

I've had a few of these and they are great guitars.Even the lower end road stars play great.

I always wondered how that pickup configuration sounded...same with the Nightswans. So, how'd they sound?

                        Cool axe.
Check out the small dots like the old Westones had. That headstock too.
Also the body kinda reminds me of the old Matsumoku Focus.
                        Hmmmmm:think:
                        Models
The prudes may snub them, but I don't care.
                        I dont need furniture.
If its tough, shreds, and screams, Its all good.
If it gets jacked, I'll get another one.
                        And rock that sucker.

The Swans sound awesome. Full Shred and JB in Mahogany ...

Haven't had a chance to really try the Ibby yet but it has coil split which should work well to.
These pickups sounded pretty good though in others I've tried.

I like how they hyphenate "smoother" into:
                            "smo-
                            other"
                            -------------------------
