Schecter...now endorsed by Liberace?

Bought my son an entry level Schecter a few years back. Picked it up for the first time in months a few days ago and was surprised by what a good player it was.

This morning I passed a Schecter dealership and decided to check out the current range. Ew! As soon as I hit the mid-priced instruments they all seemed to be dressed in totally unnecessary bling. Frilly inlays, covered pickups and some of the ugliest, most overstated body and headstock binding I've seen. Really, all that was missing was the candelabra.

Maybe my delicate tastes are easily offended, or perhaps I'm just showing my age. Is this what the kids are into nowadays? I noticed some of the LTD's were in a similar style.

No it's not your age I really dislike bling bling on schecters. Abolone binding on body and no binding on neck ? Looks cheap if you ask Me.

me 2 man i hate the look of those schecters and the body shapes just weird. those ltd deluxe series look really cheesy to me rather than spending crap on pretty looking binding which does nothing and spend the spare cash on the fretboard where you play the god dam thing

I am about to buy a bc rich vee. abalone, well i'm pretty sure fake abalone binding on the body and neck, possibly headstock as well with black anodized knobs with red pearl tops. alot of bling but it's a solid guitar. active 81/85 and a original floyd.

I'm with you, PV. Understated binding is great, but the MOTO & Fabalone binding is a little too much for my sensibilities...

As Luke says, I think it's odd that they'd spend money on those frills when it could go towards better hardware / woods. Though I guess it goes to show we all have different criteria when we go shopping for a new plank, and some of us buy with our eyes as much as our hands. I seem to remember my only requirement when I went after my first guitar was that it had spikes..!
