  • NGD - Agile AL-3000

For reasons I have yet to ascertain I recently found myself stricken with a slight case of Les Paul G.A.S., which would be somewhat akin to saying that the deer I saw on the side of the road the other day found itself recently stricken with a slight case of oncoming truck. So, armed with the knowledge that I am not a wealthy man meaning that getting anything Gibson was pretty much out of the question, I made the rounds and checked out all the Epiphones and ESP/LTD's and pretty much anything remotely LP shaped I could find and after reading and watching who knows how many reviews I decided to try my luck and grab an Agile. For the most part the reviews were almost redundantly similar, yet pretty much spot on in saying that these are great guitars for the money. I must admit, this guitar exceeded all my expectations in terms of how it looks, plays and sounds. I was fully expecting an immediate pick-up swap, but thus far I like it as is, so I think I'll leave it stock for a while and see how that goes. Still gotta give it a few days to finish settling in before I tweak the setup a bit, but other than that it played really well out of the box. Overall I'm quite pleased and wouldn't be at all surprised if I wind up with another one of these eventually.

    SPECS:
    -Solid mahogany arch top body
-CANADIAN Maple Top (I love how they stress that...)
-Triple bound body, and headstock. Single binding on neck.
-Nickel plate hardware, Grover tuners with 18-1 turning ratio
-Two Type V Alnico humbucker pickups
-One piece Mahogany set neck with 13.7" (350mm) radius neck
-Ebony fretboard with 22 Jumbo Frets and Abalone Trapezodial inlays
    -Graph Tec nut
Actual Weight is only 10 lbs
...and when they say ONLY 10 pounds, they're not kidding ... ...

    ...and finally the pics...

    Thanks for reading......

Hey there, fellow Ontario dweller! My friend got the purple quilt AL, and I love it. It feels great, looks awesome, and sounds very good for the stock pickups, (I'm a met-ler, (a metal head), and it's what we play, and it sounded NEARLY perfect!).

What is the Street price ballpark on these? I have a weakness for blue guitars, I really like this one.

Great looking guitar and I'm not even a big LP fan.

Thanks man. I'm not entirely sure, but I'm thinking that they are, there wasn't any info on the bridge in the specs and they weren't in the pictures on the site, a bit of a surprise when I opened the case the first time.

Hell yeah, all metal on this one too, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth and Old Man's Child for the most part. Mostly the Blind Guardian though cuz this one's kind of meant to be my roundabout tribute to Marcus Siepen's trans blue ESP Eclipse from the Imaginations Through The Looking Glass DVD.
Purple Quilt you say? That sounds freakin' sweet.

Got this one direct from rondomusic.com. $399.99 USD for the guitar and I think another $50 for the HSC (if you're outside the US you have to buy one), their shipping was a little steep but mostly because the import fees/taxes and all that good stuff were included in with it.

I am thinking about that Agile also.I played one and was very impressed by the quality and sound. The made for USA Dillion is pretty damn nice also. I have one. Wilkinson bridge, very nicely built. Wax potted alinco humbuckers, Grovers. It rocks.

I've got three of them, a al-3100 with a birdseye top, an al-2000 gold top, and a (blanking on the name) 8 string. intrepid 8 string. i hated the pups in the 2000 but the 3100 sounded good, still replaced them though with something better. The 8 string and an EMG 808 in it, pretty nice and pretty impractical.

i've yet to hear anyone have any real problems with agiles, and for the money you can't beat them. they are heavy as hell though
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

Well, considering I replace the pickups in my Jacksons too, I won't hold bad pickups against a guitar if the rest of the hardware is good.
