These newer ST's, Pro's, all the neck-thru ones with Original Floyd Rose trems are made by World Guitars in Korea. World Guitars is the BEST !!! Korean manufacturer out there. Their guitars start with an E or W serial number. Pretty much every other manufacturer has quit using World because of increased costs and moved to China. The only good Korean World Guitars left are these newer BC Rich's and the newer DBZ's. These are excellent guitars for the money.

Anything else lower end is made in China and sucks.

Shawn, is your sunburst non-Floyd'd Mockingbird a Chinese Special X and the trans red a Korean ST ? Could you comment on the quality of both. I've been seriously looking at the Korean neck-thru Floyd'd models.

I can vouch for the DBZs. I played a Korean-made DBZ Imperial, and while I hated the body style, it was one of the most amazing guitars I'd ever played. I couldn't believe it was a Korean-made guitar. Given how damned good that thing was, I could only imagine how good the USA models are. If a USA-made DBZ is substantially better than this Korean counterpart I played, there is no doubt in my mind that DBZ guitars are the best guitars made today.

I just couldn't believe this thing was made in Korea...

Agreed. I have one of the Korean DBZ Venom's, made by World Guitars, with EMG 81's and an Original Floyd. My experience with that guitar and some other earlier World Guitars models has me wanting one of these Korean BC Rich's. I doubt these models will be made much longer. ESP, Schecter, Dean and others have quit using World Guitars as costs for Korean production go up and up. It's just a matter of time before the few remaining World Guitars models from BC Rich and DBZ move to China or Indonesia. Ibanez has gone through the same thing with bunches of "Prestige" guitars now being made in Indonesia instead of Japan.

This is the Korean BC Rich I'm wanting right now.

For some reason, only the Mockingbird is available as a Korean neck-thru guitar with EMG's and and Original Floyd. You can't get a Warlock or Bich like this at the moment.

That's a pretty sweet guitar. Dunno how they stay in tune, but I've heard the Mockingbird ST with the Floyd doesn't stay in tune for shit. I've never played one, so I can't personally validate that.

I'd really like to have one of those Warlock NTs. They're pretty hot...

I believe I saw a photo on the Bcrichplayers forum of the korean plant where they had ESP LTDs and PRS SEs hanging on the same rack with the riches

I believe we have a BCR enthusiast on the JCF somewhere who could shed a bit of light on things

I for one have nothing but praise for my (recent) MIK BCR NJ Warlock

I haven't seen any photos of any of the Korean guitar plants, really, but I can say that I did play one of the Masterpiece Biches (Made in China), and honestly, it played nicely. In fact, it played better than the Trace Warbeast I just played a few weeks ago, which I think may have been a Korean-made model, but don't quote me on that.

Yep, I forgot about World Guitars making the PRS SE's, that is 100% true.

I have a sunburst Korean made Mockingbird ST. I don't play it much as it is a little heavy. I got a wide leather strap a few weeks ago that made it bearable. As far as staying in tune mine does fine. The only real issue I've had with it was the Varitone switch went retarded once and the guitar quit making sound all together. I moved the switch to a dif setting and it started working again. As far as changing the electronics I'm happy with the Rockfield pups, they work perfect for one of the bands I play in, an older style originals rock band. But it doesn't have the output I need for my band, that and I own an Accord and the case takes up a lot of space. It is the best looking guitar I own.
I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

Both were made in Korea not China. I wouldnt buy a guitar from China I don't know where they make them today but both had made in Korea stickers on them when I bought them. The floyded one is an ST with the the pots, pickups, floyd and tuners swapped.

You've heard wrong as my Red ST Korean made stays in tune perfectly....with any Floyded guitar you have to stretch the shit out of the strings before you lock the nut. Once you strings are stretched out I lock the nut and don't have to unlock it until I change strings

Yes there were images on the BCR Forum of BCRs and other brands mentioned above in the same factory.

Having played a ton of import guitars at NAMM, many of them have similar characteristics: jumbo frets leveled way down that feel like medium frets. Clear coats that have a very plastic feel to them and similar feel in neck profile. And sharp fret ends. They're not crap guitars, just not a lot of distinction between some of the brands in terms of build quality and feel.

The handmade BCRs weren't bad, but had a slightly different feel than those from previous years. Until BCR and their parent company says otherwise, I say the handmade guitars start out in Mexico like they have since the early 90's (actually mid-80's too!) and are finished in the US. I know Rico Jr has been contracted to build some BCRs I've seen on ebay recently. Ed Roman claims up and down that he owned BCR at one point and built for them. He could be telling the truth or his own version of it or somewhere in between.

Drama filled company with some good products and some really crappy ones too.
