  • Carvin kneck vs Jackson etc

How do the Carvin necks run compared to say a KV2 or a RR1? Fast necks or thicker?
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

Different years varied. Some older models I heard were thinner, then they got thicker. My '02 SC90's neck is similar to the "speed neck" profile of the KV2 which was similar to my '87 Model 6 and '88 Model 5A. I did have a DC400 and a DC120 12-string, but I can't really remember what they were like.
The only other Carvin I have at the moment is a 7-string, and that neck is medium, between a thinner Ibanez 7 and a thicker Schecter 7. Maybe ask on the Carvin Forum and see if someone could help you more. http://www.carvinguitars.com/bbs/

Jackson/Charvel necks feel wider to me, but overall similar in thickness. No comparison though due to compound radii on the JCs. Carvin are either 12", 14", etc. depending on what you order.

I have had a vartiety of carvins thru the years. My 80`s DC125C has a thicker neck, then they got pretty thin. I had a recent DC125C one for a while and the neck was thicker again. I prefer the thicker necks. That been said, Carvins also have a squared off shoulder on the fingerboards which give them a wider feel than the Jacksons. I wish Carvin would round off their fingerboards slightly like Gibson does.
