  • New GMP Ordered yesterday

I am way stoked I finally placed an order for a new GMP. I spoke to Dan twice on the phone and that was awesome. What a great guy. We joked around and based on his reaction to my original finish idea I changed my whole thinking. My next suggestion was an idea that I had for a Jackson but never pulled the trigger on it. He thought it was a great idea and sounded excited to do it. He gave me a great price on the graphic. (at least I think so) With a wait time of 5-6 months I cant wait!

Has any of you ordered a new GMP? Thoughts? Impressions?

Congrats! I've thought about ordering a GMP from Dan but haven't gotten around to it yet. All I've heard are good reviews of them. Looking forward to seeing yours.

          I'm betting a V, given his handle

Yeah Newc I ordered a V! I cant help myself. But not a sparkly one. I know its what they are known for but I wanted something a bit different. All korina with an opaque black bengal stripe all over. 2 Bare Knuckle hums with a Kahler 3310! Slim D (Jackson Speed) neck profile, ebony board with small abalone diamonds. I cant freakin wait. Should be awesome and Dan seemed really into this idea!

Would love to order a GMP V, myself. Personally, I just can't dig their headstock shape on that body style, though. Looks killer on Pawn Shops, though. Dan is absolutely GREAT - talented, professional, stand-up, and just a cool guy to deal with.

Sounds very cool mang. I wish I had the cash to order a V from them. They're stuff is certainly cooler than 99% of the crap out there. Unfortunately I'm moving in two weeks, and I'll need all my cash for house upgrades. Not to mention the fact that my wife would stab me in my sleep if I bought another guitar.

Yeah but don't forget in your sleep you are a VIKING! She'll need more than a knife

We will see how this one turns out, but the quoted lead time and the price makes it hard to justify dealing with the Jackson Custom shop EVER again. Of course I need to wait and see how she plays but I have a good feeling about this one.

I placed my first custom order with Dan & GMP in January. They have been spectacular to deal with. I'm sure you'll have the same experience. Just be sure to think out EVERYTHING beforehand. They went all out accommodating my order. The entire guitar and every single part {pickup bezels, pickup bobbins, control knob, truss rod cover, rear control plates} except the bridge and tuners will be B&W checked. Two HB's {"59" & "JB"}, 1 vol & 3-way {recessed} toggle {volume on treble horn, toggle on bass bout as on a Les Paul}. Bridge is a Tone-Pro's wrap-a-round in black. Alder body, 3-piece maple neck w/maple fretboard & Dunlop #6105's. Headstock logo will be reverse painted {black where it falls on a white check, & visa versa}. It'll also have recessed input & Anderson style dual lower strap buttons. A few "first's" on this one...The first GMP ever built with a wrap-a-round bridge. The first full checkerboard graphic. The first with dual lower strap buttons {ala Schecter/Anderson}, and also first with the sgl. vol & toggle. It is also spec'd to be between 8-9 lbs. Roxies typically weigh 10+ lbs.
That looks awesome man! I knew I made the right choice. I have wanted a GMP V forever but never could land one. I know just by talking with Dan, and my emails with Kim, that this is going to be a great experience. I am not going to crazy on specs, other than the bridge, pick-ups (which I am suppling) and the graphic. I am leaving the control layout as their standard V layout. Of course I have asked for the neck carve to be similar to the jackson speed neck (slim D) carve. Thanks for the reassurances!
