Here's my new GMP V delivered in December of 2010....5 months to the day from the day I ordered it to completion.

Quality second to none, better than a lot of recent Jackson CS guitars I've seen in the last 5 years. Just my opinion in a straight up comparison.

Awesome! I can only hope my turns out as well, but after talking with Dan I know it will! Thanks for sharing.

I GUARANTEE you WILL love it....Dan leaves absolutely no detail to chance. Every guitar is built right the first time...and inspected personally by Dan at every step of construction.

No Hype here, just fact....Dan is a perfectionist and even the slightest detail will not escape his attention. Granted, he has the luxury (for now!) of being a small scale boutique builder and has the time to devote to perfection.

What neck backshape did you choose and what pickups?

Mine has the Full C backshape with Rocket Pickups.

I'm telling you it's hands-down, one of the best playing guitars I own.

I've got a Firebird counterpart on order now too.

My neck shape is a slim D. Like a Jackson Speed profile. I ordered a calibrated BKP Miracle Man set. I freakin love these pick-ups! I have them in two guitars right now and cant put them down. Dan is interested in hearing these but doesn't want to offer them on his site due to the ordering delays, so I just supplied them myself. I too am putting in another order. Just finalizing the details of the quote. I haven't played one yet, but after talking with Dan you can't NOT be excited! They guy just instills confidence and is such a cool guy. The process alone is like crack. I mean I got progress pics really without asking! He is busy but nearly every time I call he answers the phone and seems happy to talk to you. Anyone on the fence about ordering one, so far, I can't say enough about them. In another 5 months + or - I will tell you how great they play too!

Any body else take delivery yet?

I've been in contact with Dan and am (I--I) this close to placing an order.

Just need a couple more good reports to push me over the edge....

I had to get in on this. I snagged this purple sparkle a few weeks ago and I'm loving it. I will definitly be getting more of Dan's stuff next year.

You have assumed correctly. Those are both Pearly Gates and RIP in this guitar. When I need a sound that roars this is what I grab.

I spoke to Dan early last week. He called me to discuss my neck profiles. He was going to call Mike Shannon to get some particulars. What service! Thats right I said profiles, plural. Since this thread I ordered a second V. Hopefully they both will be finished about the same time since he is running them sort of together. Flatpicker - I haven't taken delivery yet, but the process so far has been awesome. You actually feel like a part of the process and what you have to say matters. SO much different than my experience with other custom shops. I can't speak highly enough of Dan and GMP so far. I am expecting/hoping for around the first of the year. I don't really have any reason for that date, nothing was said just a warm happy thought. We will see.

I'm going to finish up my quote with the forms this week.
I have an old school GMP and the FnF is terrific, but, the neck is really large. Dan has made me feel better that we can get something smaller and more useable for me.

So for I'm loving the process. But, there are so many options...
What I know right now is it's going to be an FB body shape.

More pics of the purple sparkle, please! Love that finish, and would really dig some close-ups!

Still wishing Dan would allow a modest headstock change. Otherwise, I'd have a V on order right now.

Let me guess... wishing for a in-line head??

Nope. Don't get me wrong, I really like the GMP headstock - looks great on Pawn Shops and Roxies. It just doesn't work on a Flying V for me, though. It's a little too "Les Paul neck on a Flying V body"-ish IMHO. I had proposed a modification to the top of current GMP headstock, but Dan said no-can-do. I understand where he's coming from, but still disappointing.
