I have a Stellar Mercury 002 that I put a set of P-rails in. It's the best sounding guitar I have. It doesn't have the thin speed neck on it but it plays fast enough. I gave $200 bucks for it used and the guy I bought it off of put a set of Grover tuners in it. I have since put the pickups out of it in a beater guitar. An Austin LP copy that sounds great aswell.I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

The best non Gibson L.P. I have is an older Hondo 748 set neck absolutely awesome player great top.Mahogany body and neck and maple cap.
Original pick ups and electronics sound so good I hate to change them.Nice fat bluesy tone.
Don't pass one of these up if you find one they are great guitars.

I have owned Gibsons, and I'm very happy with my Aria Pro II. (77 LS450)
Like most manufacturers, Matsumoku made budget beginner, intermediate, and pro quality guitars.
If you stay with the upper end of the line, built in Japan by Matsumoku, from late 70s thru mid 80s, you'll be good to go.
Neal Schon played Aria Pro II PEs.
I replaced the circuit board with CTS pots, and it got a new Switchcraft jack.
Well worth the $350 I have in it.Models
The prudes may snub them, but I don't care.
I dont need furniture.
If its tough, shreds, and screams, Its all good.
If it gets jacked, I'll get another one.
And rock that sucker.

Those that were descent (Hondo, Aria Pro II, and might as well add Orville by Gibson) were made ages ago and are not easy to find. And when you do find them people think they can charge as much as a Gibson for them.Last edited by DonP; 07-25-2011, 06:46 PM.
