These guitars are not even kind of the same really. The ESP plays like a neck thru dinky reverse. Sounds nice and has an oiled neck. The woods are just Alder body and maple neck. The SLSMG is a completely different feel and sound IMHO. All mahogany and thinner so it is less mass. It is a punchy and fast player. They both are actually. But the SLSMG resonates so very differently from the ESP its not an apples to apples comparison. The Jackson has more features and a great tone wood. The ESP tone woods do not appeal to me at all next to mahogany. The feel of the bodies are very different. The SLSMG is really light. You have more tonal choices on the Jackson right off the bat with the 2 humbuckes as apposed to one on the ESP.
All that being said. The Jackson wins in my book. I have played them both before. So a bit of experience with my basis of opinion.
Hope I helped.
