There's a shop in CT that sold Robin guitars. The music store had awful people running it, but the Robin's I played were awesome. I think they were very similar to Charvel SD's and gunslingers.

The guitar with the bat graphic in the center of the photo belongs to my freind and ex vocalist...he still has it as well as about a half dozen other cool Robins.
An interesting read about the history.

Just curious to the tone on the swamp ash bodies compared to say the mahogany and the alder bodies. Higher pitched, more resonant, I know that they'd be lighter. I'm starting to GAS for one now too but I have a DeMartini Snakeskin coming as well as a YJM100. Need to pay those off first. You paid for Platinum..But you're gonna get Gold! - horns666

Back then I made the jump from Ibanez RG's to the Robins so from basswood to swampash for me a huge difference best described as just more tone.
I was a shredder playing through an ADA MP-1 and a lot of the nuances were flying over my head...I was was more concerned with my sweep picking and string skipping arpeggios than I was about wood tone but I knew then that the Robin sounded better than the Ibanez.
