So I had put my epi les Paul on craigslist last week and never got any calls but yesterday I decided to go pick up some new strings for it, cleaned it up, did a set up on it, and took some steel wool to the back of the neck and played around on it for a while. Then went over what I don't like about it.
-the pickups are very muddy
-the strings stick in the plastic nut
-the neck is 50s style so its a little too fat for me
I had been wanting a project guitar for a while and didn't even realize I had one all along.
So today im ordering it a new tusq nut and gonna order some blackouts because I've really been wanting to check them out, and im going to start in sanding down the neck and thinning it up a bit. Not a huge reshape, just knocking a bit off the arch.
Im wondering is if anyone has put blackouts in a dinky and how they sounded because i'm not sure which guitar I want to put them in.

Ahb-1 blackouts in the LP or in the Dinky? Which ever one doesn't get the blackouts will get the jb/jazz.
