  • Brian Moore Guitar

    Hi.

Has anyone here tried any Brian Moore? I was looking at the iGuitar91.13 USB. I could replace several of my guitars, but it's chinese I think and still cost the same as a USA Jackson provided one choose to upgrade the pickups and get a hardshell case.
But then again it is mindboggeling versitile.

Chime in people. What do we think?

i have a brian moore 18.13P and it is killer. mine is korean though, not chinese. i paid around $1500 back in 2001-2002 for it. it is an incredible guitar. it has small vintage style frets though....something to consider.

I've got an MC-1. Just a regular set-up. No piezo or midi, but it's a great guitar. I've seen and spoken to players who have guitars with a piezo/midi set-up and they are very versatile. Especially if you're in a band situation where you need to have several different tones and instruments. The PU/MiDi on it is real responsive.

Nice MarkD. I see you got Seymour Duncans in it. Are they upgraded from factory or did you do it yourself? The price for the i91.13 is $1495 but with upgrade for Sperzel tuners, my choice in pickups and a hardshell case the price rises to $1976.

I have several i series guitars (korean made, before they split the line to china) and they were excellent guitars for $600 range. But for over $1000, i would rather go with a godin lgx-sa (3 voice). The godin is canadian made, the body is thicker, fretboard is ebony (bm is rosewood), comes with duncans standard, and has built in eq controls for the piezo. However, the neck on the godin is thicker than the brian moore.

I used to have one of the Korean models with a Floyd, the i9f. It was a damn fine guitar for the money!

My MC-1 was made in Brewster. Numbered in the 600s. I lucked out and came across it about a year-and-a-half ago on Ebay in the middle of the night. Seller had it with a super-low BIN. So I hit it. What drew me to it was the fact that it was a hardtail.

Don't think the MC-1s are 'carbon fiber'. I believe the backs are a composite material.

mine is in the i2000 series, hence the stock duncans and sperzels. i am getting gas for another, also. i contacted brian moore about having a C90F built. it is $3595 though. if the i2000 is USA made now, then maybe i will go that route. i need to contact them with my specs and see what they say. i am not interested in all the techy stuff. i already have one of those....i want one that is stripped down, no frills and easy to use on stage!!!!

The folks at BMG are good people. They were really cool answering my questions about the guitar I bought used even though I wasn't the original owner.

And those i2000 are very really cool.

Got a new mail from BM Guitars. They will put DiMarzios in the guitar for me. I got to get me one. I've been thinking about which pickups to put in and landed on two diffrent options:
                          1st: The Tonezone (B) -True Velvet (M) - Humbucker from Hell (N)
                          2nd: X2N (B) - The Chopper (M) - Dual Sound (N)

What do you think? Should I go high or low gain?

i always go medium gain. i like to have a good clean sound. with a guitar like the brian moore, versatility is what makes it attractive. it reminds me of a guitar for a mature player. mine has the the SD JB and alnico II and it sounds so killer. with hi-gain sounds it is like a great sustaining/fusiony sound like holdsworth. clean i can get it to be like a tele, a LP jr, or by using the neck pickup and the piezo, a gorgeous jazz box. consider those things when making your pickup selection...

                              +1 for markD's comment.

You want a good balanced set of PUs that bring out/transfer the guitar's natural timbre. Especially if you go the midi/piezo route.
Let your outboard gear (amps, pedals, caged monkey) add all the gain and/or distortion.
