  • A (kinda) family photo

Had a few axes out on rotation today, and since it was bright and sunny, decided it'd be a good time for a shot. The one on the left is a 08 Am. Deluxe Ash Strat, the middle is no stranger to any, SL2H w/ Bareknuckle pups, and the one on the right is a 2010 SG std, also with BKs.

    I like EL34s.

Hey Grim, which BKP do you use? Do you order them direct or from a resaler here in Canada? Love to try out the Nailbombs or the Aftermaths.

The soloist has an Aftermath bridge and a Cold Sweat neck, and the SG has a Mule bridge and Stormy Monday neck. I order direct, the shipping is fast and not too bad $ wise.

The aftermath is a great pickup. It definitely has metal in mind, got a heavy mid-bump, super tight bass and controlled highs. The Nailbomb's meatier, definitely more scooped. Not as hot either. However, it's more versatile. Even the ceramic version, I find, is more versatile. Something about the Aftermath's tightness just makes it less useful for styles that favour a "looser" tone. That said, if you're playing metal, it is probably the best metal pickup I've ever used. Don't know what style you're after, but the BKP customer support is great, and usually you'll get a reply from Tim himself - and let's face it, who knows the pickups better?

Cool collection! What is the Aftermath pickup named after?

According to the BKP forums, one of the folks who got the prototype thought it was the quintessential technical death metal pickup : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0n2Ew2RS4o

Yeah, my buddy here at L&M in Wpg said to just talk to Tim directly and depending what you are using amp/guitar wise, style you play he'll steer you in the right direction. Even add/ take away winds in the pickup for you.
What are you paying for the pickups, shipping/customs just so I kinda have a heads up on that.

God, you're testing my memory here!

I can't remember what the exact amount was, but I think in total the set(s) of uncovered ones were approaching 400 for the pair(s).

+1000 for BKP. Tim's a good guy. Helped me with the PU in my baritone. The Painkillers and the Warpigs are great buckers.

NICE! You can cover a lot of ground tone-wise with those three.
