Looks like Mr. Learn has a project coming his way... We're still working out the details.

Man I am kind of tempted to do a black/white candy stripe or something. Polka dots?

Nah. Just black, I guess. But at least with no pickguard.

Lacquer or poly for the refin? If you do poly, I think it would be very interesting to do HQ recordings of individual notes & some chords with identical settings before & after the refin, then check the waveforms. My money is on everything being exactly identical, and then I'd double down that not one cork-sniffer will accept the results.

Looks nice, but I think that is standard zebra pickup coloring. Every time I order a reverse zebra black/cream bridge pickup (and I've ordered a few), the black bobbin is the bottom one with the logo on it. Is it possible you have them mounted in the wrong holes?
        Sleep!!, That's where I'm a viking!!

Yep, it's a zebra. They aren't in the wrong hole, unless the SH6B is for "bass" and the SH6N is for "Near the bridge."

Poly! I asked him and that's what he said he'd do, and I had told him I'd prefer it for durability anyway.

I totally agree dude. IMO the heavily plasticized rubber lacquer Gibson uses now is WAY thicker than anything I get on any of the Wamoth bodies or the modern Charvels and Jacksons, and it's SOFT and RUBBERY and that dampens tone - I would be surprised if it didn't sound better with a thin coat of catalyzed poly on it.

You don't send your canvas to Da Vinci and ask him to just "make it as evenly black as possible". Get some skulls and shit on it!

                I'm actually considering polka dots.

If I can find my bow tie... I'm all set!

                  Polka Dot Skulls!

Seriously though, black with white dots would be cool.

Checker skulls! Mike did black/white and black/red on a couple Soloists. He did this metallic black/silver on my Kramer Imperial.
