yep...ROBOT! Its not just a gimmick either. The damn thing really works! It's also probably the most aggressive sounding of the bunch right now, but that will change late this week - I hAve a LP Classic coming in and it has EMGs. We'll see how that goes - if they suck, it'll probably get the Super Distortion/PAF Pro treatment in cream.

Little update:
I'll get a real pic up at some point.
I wasn't bonding at all with the Studio. It went back. Wayyyy too light with the chambered body. The hefty neck just added to the issue. I traded the Demartini Bomber, and got a new Ebony LP Trad Pro like the Gold Top. Love those guitars. And yes...I'd still like chrome p'ups.
I got the Les Paul Classic in. They did a great job refurbishing it, and the neck repair was excellent, so I feel great about the trade deal I made on it. It did come with EMGs - 85(b)/81(n), and as I suspected, I still hate EMGs. I am swapping pickups from the Burny to the Classic and vice-versa. I should get them back tomorrow, and then I'm planning on either selling or trading the Burny for a Tele of some kind.
LP GAS has subsided. I hadn't played any of my Charvels in a few weeks since getting the LP's -- I plugged one in and the highs just about shattered glass!! I really got used to the low-mids of the LP's, and they don't have the highs at all. JUST AS IT SHOULD BE! LP's are pretty dark...and I like it that way.Last edited by chrisolson; 10-20-2011, 09:55 PM.

...but man...a Tele for $1600? No. The best Tele I've ever owned was the first one I ever had, and it was a $349 Mexi. I may keep an eye open for a nice ASAT too.
I sold the Roots a couple years ago. Nice, but uninspiring...I blame the EMG's. After getting a USA Pro Mod, the Fenders were on a one-way trip to somewhere else.

I've got a Burny Les Paul Custom as well as some real Gibsons. The Burny is quite nice for a cheap alternative to the LP and the fret work is really nice on it. Of the real Les Paul Customs I'm liking the 68 reissues the best. I do have a LP Classic with factory EMG's in it and it sounds pretty nice! What didn't you like about the EMGs in yours?Rudy

Just never been a fan of EMGs. They take too much away from the character of the guitar, and make it EMG. A Lester needs a mid-gain pickup to sound "right" to me, which is also why I was never a fan of the stock Classic pickups either.
The Burny is pretty cool for what it is. Mine isn't the super desirable 70's-80's Japanese model, but it is a far cry nicer than the usual Epi. I like it, but I have a pile of Gibsons now, so I don't need the substitute. But I would like a Tele!

The 57 Classics in some of my 68 RI LPC's sound great through high gain amps. I did put Suhr Doug Aldrich pickups in one though. The Aldrichs add a lot of gain and bottom end! My Burny is not a 70's or 80's model either, its fairly recent. But it is sort of aged white/cream so its got some Randy Rhoads mods on it to complete the look
As for a Tele, I like their sound. Problem is I can't stand their looks at all. I think its one of the ugliest body styles made and the headstock isn't much better either Also, the pickup selector switch on many of them goes straight back and forth and in some positions is right up against a knob. Can't stand that.Rudy

I don't know why I typed Burny mine is an Edwards. Sorry for the goof up. But no, its not neck heavy.
I'd personally rather have a Burny than a Tele btw. Post some pix of your Burny, lets see what it looks like with those EMGs.Rudy
