I have a BC Rich Mockingbird ST that sounds and plays great, but it ways a lot and just kills my shoulder. I'm needing ideas on a fix. I've tried narrow straps, regular and wide straps. I've tried a Neotech strap with the unique internal control-stretch system that's supposed to make it feel like it weighs less. I've even trided rapping a towel around the widest leather strap I could find, all to no avail. I probably sound like a whimp here, but if you have played one of these you'll know what I'm talking about. Any I deas would be greatly appriciated.

Outside of taking a sawzall after it to lighten it up, I think you have tried just about everything you can. Unless you want to install a cable/spring suspension system in your guitar room to hang it from, I dont know what to say. perhaps you could borrow Rsmacker's sex swing and try hanging it from that to see if it works."clean sounds are for pussies" - Axewielder

LOL, The sex swing would smell way to bad. I've read his stories. I'm going to try a Slider strap it looks a lot like a wierd set of suspenders that uses both shoulders to carry the weight. I thought I was just being a bitch until I loaned the guitar too one of the guitarist I play with and he says the same thing. I'm not a small guy either at 6ft and 190lbs. I'm a tire tech, handler whatever you want to call it, long story short I can fix or replace a tire on anything from a 2 wheel dolly clear up to earthmovers and tractors/combines. Which I think is also why my shoulder doesn't like this guitar. Getting old sux.I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

I like the balloon idea. then at shows he could sell or give away the balloons once the guitar was in its case.
I think for stage presence, its best to use the balloons AND the road warrior shoulder pads. that would look extremely festive AND bad ass at the same time. fun for everyone."clean sounds are for pussies" - Axewielder

Badass guitar, one of the greats.
But it may not be the one for you.
Reminds of this guy, saw him on an Alice Cooper video...Kane Roberts.

I had a Rico Mockingbird and it weighed in on the heavy side.
But I played it sitting down, not gigging, just noodling.
It would put my leg to sleep after a while!Last edited by Cygnus X1; 10-03-2011, 07:05 PM.
