Ive got 59/SH5 Custom in my LP Custom and sounds awesome with 10-52's in d# tuning.

On my neckthru LP's from Agile i have a set of 59's with the jimmy page wiring in my blue one and Blackouts AHB1 in neck and AHB2 Metal in bridge.

but the more i play the LP Custom more i like the Custom in bridge over the EMGs that were in there..

Try the Suhr Aldrich pups. They are suppose to be made for the Les Paul and Doug always has good tone.

'04 worn/faded cherry Studio Vintage Mahogany. 85 in the bridge and chrome 25th anniversary 81 in the neck. Had a TP6 fine-tuning tailpiece on it, but just went back to the original tailpiece and top-wrapped the strings. It's kinda hard to tell, but it's also got a diamond plate aluminum pickguard on it courtesy of Budman. Les Pauls kick ass!

Replaced EMGs with Suhr Aldrich pickups in my Custom. They are MADE for LPs. They sound incredible. These are staying in, ha ha.

93 standard limited has 81/89 emgs, so does the 77 standard. They sound completely different, tho. My 90 lp custom plus has the stock pickups, i think theyre 490/498, not sure.
Its a complete catastrophe. But Im a professional, I can rise above it. LOL

I have a pair of DiMarzio 36th in double white, and a PAF / Super D set in double white, but have yet to do a swap because I just don't feel the need.
I just joined over at MLP, rest assured, Ive already trolled a thread started by you. Thanks for the info though, I was waiting for your reply with baited breath, I know you had a few LPs.

Damn, you guys must not have anything better to do

Here's the deal. I totall love the 490R/498T combo in my 1998 SG Standard. Sounds great for metal. I've seen Iommi playing Standards as well, and it looks to me to be the bone stock pickups.

BUT, on many forums, that combo gets blasted. Things I've learned:
Most who hate this combo have it in a Les Paul (maybe the maple top doesn't work with it?)
Most who hate it don't play metal.

On the Seymour Duncan forum, some guy bluesman always harps on swapping the magnets, putting the Alnico II in the 498T and the Alnico V in the 490R.

                            Personally, I like it as-is.

                            490T - can't help you there. I imagine it's a lot like a 57 Classic, but with a modern flare.

Also, any pickups that end in a T from Gibson are F-Spaced I think.

AFAIK Gibson doesn't do F spaced (as in Fender spaced), but T is for treble (ie bridge) and R for rhythm (neck) pickups.
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

I've got the WCR Darkburst set in my R8 along with a wiring harness from Martin Six String Customs (Its got the Luxe Bumblebee caps & some good strong matched CTS pots).

I know...boutique snobbery...but it now sounds like the Les Paul that I've always heard on records & had in my head...but could never get the sound of.
