  • NGD, Epi LPS.

So, number 6 arrives before number 5. I still have a LPC that wiill be here tomorrow, but I found this looking around tonight. I got a decent deal on it too because its got some undesirable damage(not that any damage is). It was a demo guitar and apparently suffered some neck trauma and it cracked the finish nearly all the way around almost right at the neck joint. It solid, just a stress fracture in the finish. They sold it to me at cost because of the damage and it had been sitting in there since 07. Its also missing the 3way switch knob, but how many actually still have that anyhow. It still had the static clings on the pickups and pick guard. Anyhow, heres pics:

Heres a pic of the crack, you cant see it too well because my cam sucks at close up shots.

Its got a damn nice weight to it, probably close to 10lbs..

This guitars actually on the books. I talked the wifey into letting me buy one for "christmas". The LPC had the books cooked for it, so I wont be flashing it around for a while, but Ill NGD it sometime next week while shes at work.

Nice looking axe. Is the blue that bright in person, or is it darker?

Also, what pickups are in it? Is this one that you are planning on changing the pups?

      Congrats!

Sounds great. Its definitely has balls. Im surprised honestly. The last Epi LP I had got a pup swap right away, if these dont feedback real bad, theyll stay in for sure. Ive already found the pick guard to be a hindrance, so it came off.

No, its much darker, almost black looking. This has the same pickups as the one I originally had in mind, but its not the same guitar. That guitar will be here tomorrow. Like I said, I really like the tone and the output, as long as there are no horrible feedback issues, theyre good as gold. Ill find out for sure regarding feedback at the show tomorrow night.

Nice top on that one. I'd be very tempted to remove the neck finish and give it some tung because of the finish crack.

Hey if it doesn't bug you or affect playability I don't think so. I'd wait for someone who's a pro to weigh in though. I'm just a knucklehead that sometimes jumps in EVH style on guitar projects. ("Hmmm, I don't have a chisel for this pickup cavity. But I do have this dull spoon! Lets start this project!")

If I could see wood, it would, of course if it did, Id have put it down right away at the store. It doesnt get in the way of my hand so Im cool there. One thing I do notice is that I can bend the neck awfully easy by hand(I mean I do have to give it some muscle, but not as much as a maple neck), which I normally dont do, but in this instance I did it to check to make sure the neck actually wasnt cracked. It doesnt make cracking sounds when I do it and it returns to where it started, but Ive done this on maple neck guitar and dont remember them bending that easily. Is Mahogany a slightly softer wood than maple? At any rate, it doesnt seem weak, just seems to be more flexible than Im use to.

See, Twich, that's exactly what I was saying about my Trans-Blue SLS. I think that's a fantastic looking LP you got yourself there!

My LP is trans blue (quilt instead of flame), and in person it looks almost black at times too. But in pics it lightens up. We probably have close to the same color. Good call on losing the pickguard, no reason to cover that top.

                        Congrats again.

Yeah, that pick guard just happened to be where I put my ring and pinky finger to brace my hand, it made my palm rest in an odd place on the bridge because of the height difference and it felt awkward. I liked the look somewhat, but it just didnt feel right. Whats weird is I didnt notice that sitting down, but standing up, it was in the way.
