  • The one I want back

This is my 1989 Gibson Custom shop. I waited almost 8 months for this guitar to get built. I had ordered it from Music Unlimited in Dublin California and went over every aspect of the guitar, playing different les pauls figuring out which neck i liked what color i wanted, it wasn't (apparently) offered at the time in that color and flame maple top. or at least not produced where I could just go and buy one. I don't recall there being any real differences between this one and the 1970's tobacco burst they had besides color and top. everything else i remember pretty much matched up to it. weight included.

Anyway this thing was a dream to play, but I ended up having to sell it in 95 after my dad choosing to hold on to the LTD instead. But damn I miss that guitar. If Gibson wasn't a f*cking money pit I'd order another custom some day but... yeah not likely

My first Les Paul (back in '88) was a black 1972 Fretless Wonder Custom. Loved the tone, but hated those damn low frets so I sold it. I regret it. I go into GC and play a fretless wonder, and still hate those damn low frets. But I still regret selling.

So I've learned. Don't sell anything

I miss my feet. The gut/spare tire obscures them. You can say the same thing about one's 'crank' - but that I can touch/reach. My feet/toes is another story.

Yup, sorry about that. I was in a big hurry to find a picture of Phil Collen with a Charvel.

While they won't ever overtake my Jacksons, I do like nice Les Pauls. I highly recommend the 68 Reissue Les Paul Customs. Those are killer Les Pauls!

Same here. Still waiting on my bacon endorsement deal. Seems Hormel doesn't have an Artist Relations rep.

Yeah, Sykes' is a Norlin era Les Paul Custom. They did make a sig model of his but I modded one of my 68 Reissues sort of similarly except I used stainless steel and even blended in some Rhoads for good measure by adding the stainless steel back plates as well. I replaced the pickups in it with Suhr Doug Aldrich models

I had a 1991 '57 reissue LP Custom that I often wish I had back, but the truth is that I used to gawp at it for ages but played other guitars first so it was rarely used.

Love that Black and Silver custom. I'm a bit of a Sykes fan too so I suppose that's why.
All men play on 10. Never gonna turn down again.
