I glimpsed a LP copy in a pawn shop the other day, couldn't get to it, and they acted like I wasn't there, but I'm curious as to what to look for. I've read that the ones to look for have the book-matched HS, and IIRC Hondo supposedly made some good ones. IIRC, some of you here have some, so...
This one is a Hondo (II?), burst finish, RW? board with block inlays, binding, body binding (front and back I think) but, it's a bolt on (vs set neck.) Unsure of the bodywood. Looks old as dirt, like it set in a closet in the corner, filthy looking. The headstock is bookmatched, and looks to be in good shape overall. My question is: Is this one to get? I'd like a LP custom, but I'm not paying out the ass to get one, and what I've read of some of the old copies, they are near the same. If this one would be a good grab, I think I will.
