  • Its Tele time!

    I wanted a tele, but routed for a bridge, and a chap on the Duncan forum was selling a body to match! New Guinea rosewood, h/s routing, from Southeast Guitars. It still has the electronics in it; Bournes 500k volume and 250k tone pots, and 3-way(no pups).

    I then needed a neck, with or without locknut capabilities since I have a "behind the nut" lock and a standard lock nut. The first neck i got didn't look quite right, being all maple, so i went to craigslist.

    Got an import Jackson 22 fret neck that was a standard neck, but the space behind the nut to accommodate a locking one.

    So I sanded the excess board away to fit a locking nut. The original nut that came on this is a metal nut! Then I had a Schaller styled single locking unit(ala JT 570) and went online to get gold hardware.

    Then hit craigslist again to get a pair of tele pups.(needed a neck pup and the pair was cheap!) Also had a Dimarzio Super3 itchin' to be dropped in something and now it has a home! Just few things left that I need to do is get gold Schaller style strap lock buttons, probably a neck pup ring, paint the face of the headstock and drill for the tuner screws.

    Here it is so far;

    That is going to look so sexy

      That is a really cool looking body. The hardware works great on it, too. Nice work!

        That's cool. I have a fender 52ri that I'd love to drop a floyd in, just because.

          looks sharp!

          You sure that's a Jackson neck though? Looks off to me.

          Also, instead of an awful neck pickup ring, have you considered a proper single coil instead of a tele neck pickup? That thing looks like it is routed for a regular single
          Hail yesterday

            Yeah, thats not a jackson neck. I think thats what he meant by "standard neck".

                Finishing up the project, I removed the neck again to paint the face of the headstock. Snapped a pic of writing on the heel if it helps to I.D it;

                Now its done with the exception of gold straplocks. The super 3 holds up pretty good, added a toggle to split it. The neck pickup is from the Westone I redid. Overall it sounds good and plays great. Just need to recheck the intonation and make sure I got it on the spot.
