Thanks so much for the compliments! Since the neck is gonna be an all maple Strat-head and the artwork is inked along with a oiled-natural finish. The dye for the Islands would be way off color compared to the darker Alder wood. It would bug the hell out of me, I think it being a uniformed graphic would be more consistent looking. Just wouldn't be a good match.... But I have plans to make the headstock interesting....

If a matching headstock was desired, Painting like the J/C Custom Shop does would be the best way! Or if you could make a neck out of Alder and make it VERY stable, Since its a softer wood.

that looks awesome, those pens are rapidographs. I've got a nice expensive set of them from back when i did graphics. I dont know what ink yours came filled with or if you fill them yourself, like mine, but i would test what ever you use to seal it on a small section.

Thank You! I've been looking all day at it and just amazed how smooth it looks. I also put the first very light Tru-Oil coat on it that I dabbed very lightly on tonight. It's gonna be fine, Since that Canadian guy that inspired me did the same thing. Exact materials.... You gotta checkout that link I posted early, his looks good!

Dan Lawrence did the artwork on the Charvel, Jackson, & Thorn guitars with this design.

I like it. I have been tossing around the idea of having Dan do something for me in this style with a flat/low-gloss white background. I was thinking something along the lines of a giant squid attacking one of those old ships.

Man, I love the looks of these guitars that J/C has done. But, this style with simplier mountains and sparse landscape sometimes looks kinda plain. I looked at tons of old sea maps on line and drew inspiration at how really complex they can be. But, with Dan's schedule,he probably can't sit around for days drawing alone on one guitar like I did.

I've been thinking about what neck plate I should get? I found one and the color scheme would match really well since the guitar is going to have black hardware.

But, I would like to hear what you guys think? This plate or have some original work done like a small section of a sea map, maybe a ship, nautical star, or a anchor......to many possibilities!
