  • Need your recommendations - Warmoth build

    Guys:

I'm putting together a Les Paul clone using Warmoth parts and would like your recommendations on the following:

    1. Color of pickup rings: black or white

    2. Color of pickups: black and white or black

Im going to have Sustaniac system installed along with a Dimarzio Fast Track in the neck. For the bridge I need to decide between a Dimarzio Norton or a Barknuckle Holy Diver.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

1 Black pickup rings, since it looks like you'll have black hardware.

      2 Zebra. And I'd go JB/'59.

black rings, zebra pickups. i'd go with the norton inthe bridge - i like to keep my pickups the same brand in each guitar. makes wiring a lot less confusing...and it often helps keep the tone "equal".....
        GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

        and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I'd go with white pup rings to match the binding and black pups to match the hardware.

          It would look pretty cool.

Oh that's not even a contest. Holy Diver all the way.

You do know the sustainer will be your neck pick up so all you need is a bridge pick up.
You will probably need to route the electronics cavity to fit all that stuff in there. and drill two holes for the switches.
            Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Can that be done? Never heard of putting both a sustainiac and a single coil size pickup in a humbucker size hole.

I would think the mounting would be a bitch.

I think zebra pups with either white or black rings would be fine.

I say zebra rings and black pickups.

It's all about the blues-rock chatter.

Just ordered the restof the hardware. Pickups will be a Dimarzio Norton in the bridge and for the moment a PAF Pro in the neck, both zebra (black and white). The pickup mounting rings, volume and tone knobs, pickup selector and strap locks will be black. Can't wait. I will do a set up on her and in December it will go out to the US to for a sustaniac pickup installation. I'll use the PAF Pro in another guitar. The sustaniac will be mounted in the neck position with a Dimarzio Fast Track 1 (same configuration that Neil Schon has). I'll post pics when she's finished.

Very cool. Zebra was the right choice.
