  • NAGD - Taylor

I put a down payment on this on the weekend but was having problems with my credit card. Called the credit card company today and my card was thought to be compromised. Luckily I was able to talk them into letting the transaction go through as I already put the money on the card to cover the transaction and had not enough cash left in the bank to pay for it...

Anyways, I have been having a hankering for a steel string acoustic lately as my nylon just feels soooo different from my electrics and because of this I tend to ignore it. I really flip flopped back and forth between the 314CE and the 414CE. I like the slightly more upmarket features on the 414 like the fingerboard binding, but I actually preferred the dark body binding and darker woods of the 314. Soundwise, I slightly preferred the 414.

On the weekend when I had decided I was going to go with the 314 who's look I preferred, I went in to the shop and they had sold their last in stock 314 the day before. I took this as a sign from god that I should get the 414.

Loving it so far. She likes it rough. The harder I play the better it sounds. I haven't had a chance to get good pictures yet. I'll take some on the weekend with some natural daylight and not choose a retarded F-stop. In the meantime, here is some low quality amateur porn to appease you...

That 714 looks pretty hot from what I can find on a web search. That imbuia seems like an interesting tonewood too, I'll have to read up on it. It must look pretty awesome with the Koa binding.

I really like the tone the Ovangkol is giving me on this 414 as I spend more time with it. It's very bright and present but the midrange is very rich as well. I'm really liking the guitar so far, I can see it making me a better player for sure because I really have to dig in and sort of "be bold" as compared to the electric with tons of gain. I'll have to learn a couple Christmas numbers for the family party when everyone is drunk and caroling. Then next year I'll bring the RR1T and my 50 watt combo to kick it up a notch.

Nice, what is the difference on the limited? The ovangkol smells really nice too. Almost a bit of a cedar scent to it.

The limited is spruce top with rosewood back/sides. Here's the thread I posted about it

Thanks guys. It's a great guitar for sure. And now when I recommend Taylor acoustics to people I won't have to feel guilty about not having my money where my mouth is hehe.
