Well, I actually got this about a month ago but I never made a thread. One of the best guitars I've ever played. I was originally looking at those Chris Broderick Soloists, but after dealing with the fuck ups regarding my CS, and the fact that they were taking forever my love for Jackson really started to sour. I ended up falling in love with the JP BFRs and here I am.

Congratz and awesome looking guitar! I'm a fan of the EBMM JP guitars. I own a JP6 and it's my favorite guitar.
@Trussrod, JP models all have locking tuners (IIRW)

How do you like the basswood body on your JP6? The low end on good basswood is near unbeatable, imo. I almost bought a non-BFR for that reason alone.Rudy

Very fucking nice! I played one of the JP6's and fell in love... Was really disappointed when the store sold it
Funny story, the guy I bought my Prestige off of ended up buying the previously stated JP6. When I went to his place to play and buy the Prestige, I ended up playing the JP6 for the whole time. My Prestige is my #1 guitar, and I've yet to find a guitar that I love as much as that thing, and the JP6 topped it hands down. Wasn't even a BFR!
What was this fuck up with the Jackson CS you mentioned? If you don't mind me asking of course.

Congrats. How do you like the trem? Everyone on ss.org raves about them.

Well remembered, the website says "Alder with bookmatched maple top and mahogany Tone Block" for the BFR and Basswood for the normal 7.Rudy

All this talk about the JP6s really makes me want one. I'm going to try to get a picture of my BFR and my Soloist together now that I have them both.

I ordered a pretty run of the mill CS Soloist Christmas of 2008, and I took delivery of it Christmas of 2009. I had it for maybe 3-4 months before the neck warped, which left me with this incurable fret buzz and some dead notes. It was a huge multi month hassle to get it covered by warranty, which granted was partially my fault, but it was super annoying non-the-less. I finally took it in for the warranty work March 5th of 2011, and Fender/Jackson decided to build me a new guitar. I periodically called my middle man for updates, and in October I was informed that apparently it was on track to be completed, but somebody screwed something up in paint so it was back a step. Fast forward to mid November and I get a call from the Jackson HQ telling me that it was scheduled to be completed within two weeks. Almost two weeks to the day later I get an email from a Jackson rep telling that somebody had now accidentally painted the wrong logo on the headstock, and that I could either take the guitar in it's current state or they'd redo it (which would take another month and a half). They sent over a picture of the two headstocks side by side (how the hell do you paint on the wrong logo when you have the old one right there to compare it to?), and I ended up liking the new logo a bit better, so I opted to take the guitar in it's current state. As a matter of principle though, I was fucking pissed.
The real icing on the cake though is that a couple weeks before I sent the guitar back the volume nob had fallen off. When I sent it back the person who inspected it had noted the missing nob, and I kid you not, they sent me back a brand new guitar minus a fucking volume nob.
Originally posted by roodyrocker View PostYeah, I think the all mahogany one was a one off. If I remember it right it was a neck thru. That was before the BFR came out. Mine is the earlier basswood. They have also changed pickups in the JP a couple times. They always had Dimarzios in them but the first ones had a Dimarzio that was different than the later D-Sonic, perhaps a Steve's Special? An Air Norton in the neck. Whatever they are thats whats in my JP6. Then they went to the D-Sonic and more recently Crunch Lab and Liquifire.

No neck-thru EBMM JP. They are all bolted. Even the BFRs.
My JP6 is my fave guitar in my small collection. Would love to have another one.

Oh, I'd love to share. Sorry if this is poorly written, I tend to get a little heated over this.

I've never heard about any neck-thru JP models (that'd be sweet), but on the BFR line they offer a model with a Koa top and an all Mahogany body. Might that be what you're thinking of?

I think I remember reading that or something, took you nearly 3 years just to get your guitar!
