  • NGD: 90's BC Rich Gunslinger - Need ID help

I just picked up this axe:

All original except the bridge PU has been swapped for a JB.

can anyone help me ID more precisely exactly which model this is? i can't see any serial number or anything else besides the "NJ Series" on the truss rod cover.

    Any help would be appreciated

Was that truss rod cover swapped?

      From what little I know:

Gunslinger's traditionally only have a single humbucker. Those with other configs are called Assasins or some other model name.
Gunslingers only came with maple fretboards. ST-III's came with rosewood.
      Never seen one bound before.

Interesting axe, but it's a little more flashy than most gunslingers I've seen. Most are down and dirty ready for a bar fight.

No idea either but DonP summarized my thoughts exactly. Cool looking guitar though.

I don't know about the cover. I have been looking through some early 90'es catalogues(the previous owner thought that it was from around 89-93), and in there are some non-Maple fretboard Gunslingers(though most models were maple).

What seems to set the GS aside from the Assassin is that the GS has the reverse headstock, and usually more simple electronics, and often only a bridge PU. however there were GS models with both H-S and H-H configuration. therefore what would appear to make it a Gunslinger would be the reverse headstock and the simple one vol. electronics. But a quite unusual GS if that..

Hmm.. whatever model it is, it plays amazing, awesome neck!
Any more ID help is much appreciated

Maybe it was a Japan only model? Either way, it's beautiful.

could be, I havent seen any with binding on the neck or body like that. as for model names BCR names get all messed up after 88ish, GS ,GS2 was 2 pickup gunslinger, & assassins. Used to be the assassins had the assassin headstock which is the same as the mason bernard headstock bernie did later, otherwise they were basically the same.
