Dude, that sucks so much. It's (was?) a beautiful guitar too, which makes it suck that much more.

Time to contact the seller. give him the pix link in a contact seller email, and TELL HIM you have decided its time to star a buyers dispute, weather it was poor packageing or misrepesented, the ball will be in his court and Ebay and Paypal will be on your side.“But does it help with the blues rock chatter?"-Hellbat

just curious but could that spot get a new clear coat or would the entire top have to be refinished? Sorry I'm really ignorant when it comes to painting and tinting a guitar. If he can get some $ back from the seller maybe he can get that spot refinished or at least touched up. would suck if he bonded with the guitar then had to send it back. nice looking purple too
kind of wish i had gotten mine in that color instead of the vintage yellow some times. In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

if that finish crack is the only issue, and was caused by shipping, I would ask for a partial refund. I mean that is if the guitar is fine by all other standards. If you really like the guitar, but thats the only issue, ask for a partial. as one guy posted earlier, its OK if it dont affect the structural and playability and you get a screamin deal on it. thats my take on it."clean sounds are for pussies" - Axewielder

I think I'm with Len on this. Rich, it sounds like your going to have a hard time looking at those top cracks. That sucks, I dig those purple figured tops. Does it play ok and is it atleast up to your expectation there? That might sway your decision somewhat.

The guitar does play good but now that I have plugged it in the stupid acoustic pickup doesn't work. the humbuckers are set to low and kinda suck, but I didn't plan to keep those. It's been 36 hours since I sent the seller an email and no response. I believe it's a pawn shop but they were probably open yesterday. I can deal with dings and chips anywhere but the back of the neck and on tops like this.

I'd return it. Even with a partial refund, I doubt you'll be happy in the long run.
I'd politely mention that you really wish they would have packed it properly, so it wouldn't have been so prone to damage. Don't let them try to drag you into a claim with the shipping company. A claim will most likely get denied because the damage is the seller's fault. Also, I'd mention in feedback that the guitar was improperly packaged for shipment.
Sidenote: if a seller's listing doesn't mention their packaging procedures for guitars, sales history doesn't show guitar sales, etc.,.....then I usually kindly ask them to check out the "Please pack carefully" section in this link:
I've never had anybody get upset when providing that info. You just can't assume people have experience with this kind of stuff. It seems like common sense to me, but in life I try to never underestimate the reaches of human stupidity and things seem to go better.

They sell guitars. They have even sold a jackson rr1 and the buyer said how great the packing was .
check this feedback out:
Great Seller! Fast shipping! Great packing! Awesome guitar, thanks! Buyer: Member id kstumus ( Feedback Score Of 22) Feb-14-12 18:27 1991 Jackson RR1 Randy Rhoads Black Electric Guitar (#200709758378)
I dont' know how they go from that to shippig with no packing and on top of it using a triangle guitar box made in china.(that's one this china can't do is make good cardboard boxes)
That's guys for all the input I think I'm going to open up a paypal claim and ship this thing back.

If it's a pawn shop, they probably have several people working there and an inexperienced idiot ended up with the job of packing this guitar.
Another sidenote: on Ebay, I really try to avoid buying from pawn shops or similar unless they're selling something really special. Just too many potential problems. I prefer to buy used from individuals or reputable guitar shops.
