You can always order it with just a 12th fret inlay, if you want. I had a Schecter 7-string like that, and it was fine to get used to. I realized I mostly look at the side dots anyway.

Yeah I have a JJ2 with the dice at the 12th, I didn't know what to expect either but it turned out to be a non issue. But looking at that long slab of pure ebony, oh man!

I'm with birdseye absolutely. I need inlay also. Maybe a compromise dot or slight oval with a color to veer from black and not being so opaque and obvious . I have some Paua Shell dots on a board and they actually take on alot of mild color ,even a bit of purple, without being brash and so definite looking, but still sight usable. A bit different from Abalone. Hmmmm. Just a thought. Frickin' purple figured top......awesome dude.

                Congrats.

Honestly I've never paid much attention to Carvin until joining this forum. But I'm impressed, thinking maybe I've been missing out.

Nice. Be aware (if you don't already know), with chrome hardware, Carvin uses matte satin for the Sperzel buttons. So your bridge and knobs will be shiny (unless you get a Wilkinson, that's also matte), but the tuner buttons will have the matte satin finish and look grayish.

The carvin I just sent back had chrome so I know what it looks like up close, the gold is to much and I already have a purple quilt Jackson with gold hardware, and the black is just too black.

Oh, cool. Now the wait continues! At least it's not as long as the Jackson Custom Shop wait.

Even if I could afford one I could not take the wait.(I've also owed many Jackson imports in "purple" that are usually on the pink side). I don't even know what the wait is yet.

Average seems to be about 8 weeks, depending on time of year/how busy they are. I've heard of people receiving theirs in 6 weeks, others about 10 or 11. It took 9 weeks last year to get my 7-string.

So 9'ish weeks, call it 10 when you throw in delivery. Seems like a nice turnaround. I hope it kills!
