NICE sounds like a killer deal. its great to know at least some people arent blinded by what it says on the headstock.

A while back i thought i wanted a LP, i found the single cut PRS SE's played and sounded as good or better than most of the USA gibsons.

Hey... I'm rockin' a Chinese made LP knock off by Austin and it kills.
The electronics were crap (replaced), but the hardware and build quality were better than most Gibsons I've come across lately.
      Only cost me $200.

Amen! A few months later and I've been enjoying the hell out of a Fibson I got from a guy that bought a bunch of stuff at an estate sale. Sure it's not a Gibson but after swapping the pots and cleaning up the wiring, I'm actually surprised that the original pups sound great and have decided not to change them at this time.

Epis have gotten pretty decent in recent years (paper-thin veneer tops aside).

I am seriously questioning why the hell Gibsons are so inflated now. When I was in high school a Standard was $800 even. They're the only ones who have hyper-inflated their prices for USA's more than Jackson has. I normally don't condone knock-offs but think Gibson kinda forced that market to happen.

i have thought about blowing some money on a tradetang LP rip-off, just to see how they actually are. anybody have one? i played quite a few chinese epi's last week and they were pretty decent - not as good as the one i got, but still pretty playable. with an electronics/hardware upgrade they'd have been awesome...
            GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

            and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

My neighbor has two of them.
One is complete crap. I think the frets are tin or pot metal and the hard ware is just as bad.
That was one he picked up a couple of years ago. It's basically wall art.

He has a newer one that is an LP Custom copy that feels damn nice although it's not a perfect copy.
Doesn't have the triple binding or any headstock binding, but it does have the proper headstock inlay.
The electronics are complete crap, but again, the fit and finish are very nice.

Sweet score. I'm in the market for a Les Paul Traditional plus or older standard. For me the feel is more important than the sound. If it sings unplugged it will sing plugged in with the right pickups.
