I know that my HM Strat from '87 has a Kahler and the serial number also starts with an E. Don't know if this helps, but thats all I know."I have so much gayness at times. My wife walks in my music room, and there I am, in my undies, listening to "Sister Christian" while lighting fireworks..doin' blow." - Bill Z
"I leave off the back plate and pinch my forskin between the tension springs. That may not work for everyone. But I find that the people love it. Half the tone is in the pud." - Bill Z

Yeah internet info can be confusing sometimes. Funny thing is the first thing he did was call fender and they said it was a US, but we didnt believe them which is what made me ask here. Fender never has been very good with their info when ever we had to talk to em. Lol

I had an E9 MIJ Squier strat at one time I think the only year they were MIJ.
The Fender USA plant was down around that time I was told so serial numbers were odd at best.
Can't really see too much in my pic but you can see the layout they used.
It was a dead on copy of a 60's strat and from a few dealers I know they said most of these were made from USA parts ie bodies, necks and trems.
