    Congrats, that's an awesome guitar!

You know, I thought I'd never say this because I normally really hate them, but a set EMG's would look great on this one! With the black hardware, kinda like a cross between Hetfield's Ken Lawrence Explorers and a ukulele!

you're making it sound more and more like a Reb Beach sig model. Until the hardware swap, anyway

That guitar is beautiful! I have a 1-piece Koa body/bolt-on neck Warmoth Strat build, but the wood is nowhere near as stunning as that...

I like the sound of Koa, and 1-piece bodies in general.

So when those Showcase guitars say not for sale, is that really true or will money talk? Still kicking myself over not buying a Sandoval V when it was at $2500 years ago. It went up to $5000 then it was gone. Supposedly it was bought 3 times and returned 3 times because the buyers couldn't really afford it.

                  Nice Fender, BTW.

Thanks man! Yeah, that koa sounds amazing. It's sorta dark like mahogany, but much richer and more organic sounding. I can't wait to get mine back....

Money talks there. The guitar was part of the pair that was in the Calender and they were "not for sale" forever. Larry Ellison kept throwing money at Gary until he caved. That was possibly gifted, though judging by how pretty they are, it's possibly sitting in a corner or on the wall of one of his rooms to show that he's a rocker and plays guitar and it's probably sitting next to a boutique amp that's never been plugged in. lol

Then the other one, the one I got, went up for sale shortly after. The 1999 MSRP was $7000 and I paid $4995 for it. Considering inflation, I pretty much stole it. If you want something that's marked "Not for Sale", you need to have the GM call Gary with a fair offer. When I offered $5000 out the door, he basically said "I'm not budging, the guitar can sit there forever as far as I'm concerned". After doing some research and looking at what all the manufacturers currently offer, I figured I had no choice but to buy it. I'm glad I did.

Almost all of those guitars are Gary's personal collection and if one actually sells, he does come down and play nice because one of his babies are leaving the building. They're going to expand the Showcase soon... he has over 600 guitars in his personal collection, many of which can't be displayed because there isn't enough room.

If there's something you see that you want, make a generous offer. You don't need to overpay, but you're probably not going to get a good deal... if it's in the Vintage Room, you're buying it because you gotta have it not because you think you're gonna get a screaming deal. He seems to have prices in mind for all of his guitars, and many of them are old prices too, so if you pick wisely, you can score.

Most of the guitars in the Vintage Room don't sell just for the fact that it's information overload, not because prices are ridiculous. The prices are what they are and I'm sure there are a few pieces that are priced high just because of that attachment factor. A lot of the prices in there are actually really reasonable, just that so many of them are really niche market that they don't sell. And you see one guitar you like, then keep looking down the line, see another and another, then by the time you're done looking you're still processing it. The management likes to joke about that because they don't care if those guitars sell. The museum factor is something they pride themselves on, and it is cool to go window shopping there.

                            Thanks guys!

I'm seriously having withdraw symptoms... I only had it overnight before taking it to the Fender CS authorized luthier to correct those issues. I also left them with my other Fender to roll the fretboard ends. I get an update tomorrow.
