Anyone have experience with Agile guitars?

I picked up one of the higher end (more bling) LP's used a few years ago to give to my brother. I thought it played pretty fuckin' good for my first Chinese guitar experience. The pups were a little muddy, but otherwise there was plenty to work with.

I've heard nothing but improvement on them since then.

Korean company with factories in China I thought. Sort of like a Mexican Fender.

They are pretty good. Not good for the money, but actually good.
The LP's are a bit heavy though.

Huh. Interesting. I got the one I grabbed back in maybe 2006? Felt good, had the nice thin taper neck, not a ball bat. The pups though were pretty bad. I see they are working emg's etc now. The board looked like ebanol or something. Real pretty guitar.

I've played 2 Agile's and a Douglas, and only had a little like for one of the Agile's, their highest end LP copy. Played nice, sounded really good for stock pickups, but the finish looked really fake.

The other Agile I played was the 8 you posted above but in trans black, that was just a horrendous guitar, same with the Douglas 7 I played but that makes more sense in comparison.

I wouldn't really recommend them, but to each their own.

I've purchased 3 new Agiles and they all went back. Thankfully, Rondo has a good return policy and I received full refunds (including return shipping).

#1 Agile Hornet Pro 7 string (V-shape). It was supposed to come with a case, but instead was shipped in a cardbox box with minimal padding. Big surprise that there was missing paint on the wings from sliding around in the box. The neck also buzzed like a chainsaw.

#2 Agile Sentinel 7 string (classic strat with pickguard). There was a weird bump on the back of the neck around the 5th fret. Not sure if it was a build up of laquer or actual wood. It could have been sanded down, but it was a new guitar, so back it went.

#3 Agile Inteceptor Pro 7 string (super strat). Aside from the trem route being the size of a swimming pool, paint coverage was horrible all over the guitar. There were bare spots in the trem route, around the controls, and plenty of other paint flaws.

So, either these guitars are crap, I'm too picky, or I have the worst luck. There are people who think Agiles are great, so perhaps they got the good ones or are willing to overlook some flaws.

If you are in the US, it's zero risk to order one and then return it if it has problems. I had no hassle at all returning the ones I bought.

Oh, I don't want an 8 string. I was just looking at that Agile and liking it's Jackson-ness.

I think I might give Halo Guitars a try. I like a couple of the body styles. I've read a lot of horror stories, but they're local to me... about a 2 mile drive, so I can just show up at their doorstep. lmao

I have three Agiles, two of the high end LP copies and an 8 string. to me the frets on the 8 string are way too tiny. the les pauls though were awesome. I play the hell out of one of them, the other i swapped pick ups in it and screwed up in my choice and now it's in the case until i can afford to put better pickups in.

Venomboy pointed it out in the BC Rich thread I started... I'm chasing the tone and feel of a custom guitar... it's unlikely that I'll find an import with the character, playability and tone that I'm looking for. Lord knows I've searched and played hundreds of imports and many standard USA production guitars. I've found a lot like my Charvel DX1, which I really just bought so I could write a really scathing review and had planned to sell. Oddly, after a proper setup, it plays great and after putting a few hours of work into it, I'm keeping it. It's a nice playing guitar that I just leave in the studio that anyone can play that I don't care if it gets dropped or dinged. It's nowhere near the level of my custom Jackson strathead or my MIJ Fender strat, though... and that's what I'm trying to match or exceed.

I'm really digging MIJ Fenders though. The quality is a step or two above current USA Charvel or USA Fender standard production guitars.
