me too never been a fan of the 9.5 radius. the high E always seem to fret out on big beds unless youve got high action, and it just seems so round compared to everything else i own.

I think the compound radius is now stock on the new 2012 Les Paul Standards. It's about time!

I just prefer a flatter board like a straight 12" or 14", but compound is nice, too. The Fender sounds fantastic, but I've got my action set up a little higher on it because it seems I'll fret out when doing bigger bends. And I'd never own a vintage Fender with 7.25" radius!

That guitar makes my pants tight. :P

What's the damage on one of those anyway?

Had a '76 Strat back in the day when I had naive aspirations of sounding/playing like Jimi. Then I heard Van Halen and 80's hair metal and tore my '76 a new one by having a Floyd put in, along with a Super Distortion. Miss the twangy-ness of it. Most amazing clean tone I ever heard was a pre CBS thru a tweed. Sounded so good I damned near thought about putting down my heavily gained shredders for the cleaner Strat... Damned near, anyway...

I hate Strats, but that thing is sick. By far the nicest that I've seen.

It's a big compound curve too. 9.5-14. It's really comfortable for me, my only ergonomic problem right now is that I played it for over 4 hours last night and now my fingers are fuggin pissed at me hehe.

Here's a little recording I made this morning through my Digi 11 Rack, excuse the playing and lack of imagination and production talent, I just wanted to hear the recorded tones.

SRP is $2849.99, but of course dealers will sell for less. I got this one for significantly less. In fact less than I paid for my RR1T in 2008.

Compound radius, you say? About time they did that!
I think this is the Fender model that bumped the charvel production to japan. the Fender plant has only one machine that can do compound radi.

Interesting. I thought Jackson/Charvel still had their machines they were using.

I should say one cnc machine that could do the compound radius on the Fender side where the production charvels were being made. I think it may have been chubtone that told us this??

So are you buying a gig bag for it?

I have that same case and it's heavy as fuck.

I have a nice Body Glove gig bag that I bought to use for my Charvel Model 5 that will work perfectly for this as well.

I don't find the hard case excessively heavy though. It doesn't seem much heavier than the gigantic late 90's C/J hard case that held the Rhoads. I dig the old school tweed with the leather end caps too. It's timeless classy looking.
