Does it being Ash or the fact that it has S1 add to the value? I mean it's not rare by any means, but I don't think S1 was available on Standards for very long. I want it, but I want it for a fair price. I want the sellers to get a fair price for it as well. I don't want to take advantage or even seem like I'm trying to take advantage. Maybe I should just list it and see what happens.

Jim, I have a 1997 Ash Fender Strat. Rosewood board, Locking tuners, vintage noiseless pickups, strap locks, came with all the original parts and case candy, original case.
It has literally an hour of playing time on it since 1997. I paid $850.00 for it and I think I stole it.
I just picked up tonight a 2001 Chrome Red Fender Strat Hardtail in mint condition. Totally stock except for straplocks. Chrome red is an awesome color. I just got home with it. I paid $700.00 for it and I feel really good about it.

I am going to take a family portrait tonight an post it. I have alot of new guitars. Yea, this hardtail 2001 is a beautiful guitar. Chrome Red is a very nice Fender color and pretty rare because its the first time I have ever seen it. Its also the first hardtail Fender I have ever owned.
Very different feel when compared to my 1997 Ash. Almost feels a little Tele like. It came with 10's on it though so the first order of business is to change the strings to a wimpy gauge which is what I prefer.

I'm currently using EB Cobalt 9's on my Strat. I'm a 10 guy normally but the guitar was shipped with 9's so I thought I'd give em a go.

Pics! And what kind of straplocks? Fenders usually come with Schaller straplocks already. I've got a 2001 USA Double Fat Strat Hardtail, and it sounds great, very resonant. I'm not that crazy about the 9.5" board radius, as I prefer flatter, but it's a very nice guitar all around.

Cool, then it is original. Can't wait to see pics. You don't see many in chrome red.

Nice score. I love hard tail strats. I never use the bar on my strats that have trems. This Ash american standard is loud acoustic too. You're givin me strat fever John!!

Yes, I've never seen that color either and still haven't.
