  • KnE bodies?

I know it's been suggested here, but I can't turn up anything in a search.

Who here has experience with KnE bodies? They have what looks like an exact Rhoads, for a great price. Says 22 or 24 frets, and I can tell the bridge route is much higher than on bolt on Rhoads. Will these take a 22 fret Jackson neck?

Talk to Mitch, he is the kind of guy of understands what you are about to say before you have even said it. They will do a 2 1/4" pocket but a 2 3/16" is standard, to take a 22 or a 24 fret neck, whatever you want. Just run it by them.

I can't vouch for RR bodies but I have found the Star bodies to be the closest out there, including the rear routs. Although minus the belly cut. They even did a TOM bridge and tailpiece for me, even though I wanted it right on the edge, like an Ibanez Destroyer design or Chris Holmes's.

They glue the pieces together so the grain generally matches well, the bodies are well sanded and accurately machined. What more can I say.

As I said, send them an email of your spec, they are the complete opposite of Warmoth, in that, they listen to you and give you a personalised service, so you get exactly want you want, not something off a check list.
You can't really be jealous of something you can't fathom.

I did send them an email. I was just hoping for some consumer experience.

I should have worded my post better. My question was will these intonate with a Jackson neck, and if so, 22 or 24 frets, or both? I believe the 22 and 24 fret Jackson necks are the same, it's the body that dictates which.

I assume I'm missing the point, and they'll make whatever, right?

That's sure what it sounds like to me. Send them the specs of the parts you have already or have decided on, tell them exactly what you want, and you get it! What a concept! Why can't other companies get this?

I have painted and assembled a couple of KNE bodies. They do excellent work!!! I have finished a Tele with a Floyd and am currently finishing a Dinky copy (forget what they call it - a Warren I think?). Both had standard strat neck pockets. The tele had a reverse strat head. Don't know the manufacturer, but the fit was nice and snug. The dinky has a standard strat from Warmoth. Once again perfect fit. Both guitars intonated with no problems. Yes..I strung up and set the intonation on the dinky before I started to paint it. I don't trust anyone's bridge placement - LOL!!!!
From my two experiences, I don't think you will have any problems - and their prices are pretty good.

It depends on your Jackson neck. I think I have seen 24 fret Jackson necks without the standard heel. If the Jackson 24 fret neck is going to fit and intonate in a standard Fender neck pocket (which are what the standard that KNE offers) there should be a shelf for frets 22 to 24. If the end of the fretboard is at the exact end point of the heel, you will probably need to have a custom pocket cut. I don't know if I explained that well. Check out the standard 22 fret Charvel neck and you will see that the 22 fret extends past the heel.

Post a pic of your neck.

KNE is decent quality...not great....but in the ballpark and great for mutts. I have never played their necks but have had several bodies over the last 4 years. Some of the neck pockets have been off measure..

                anyhow. Good Luck!
