I've owned three Robins over the years and all have been great guitars. I've owned one from each area: early Tokai built ones, later FujiGen built Medley, and finally a US built Medley. All were very nice guitars, though each step there was definitely a step up in overall quality. I've since sold them all and moved on to other things, but wouldn't mind having any of those back.
jackson and Hamer.....hahah thats what i recorded my one & only CD with. all the rhythm tracks were cut on a hamer scepter V....all the leads a soloist. Tonally they were completely opposite but complemented each other so well. for full, thick, big tone, HAMERs are it. my BCR's are little more focused, snappy and mid rangey, and my jacksons, more defined and tighter sounding, almost flat or sterile, compared to my other guitars.
Hamer- hands down, the best shredder I've ever played (and I've played a few ) Californians in particular. Got 6 of them including two Customs, three Limited Editions and one Elite. I'd list Diablos as the best bang-for-the-buck shredders. Got a one of them as well.
Gibsons- I have two Gibby's that aren't too shabby and pick up nicely where the Charvel leaves off in terms of classic hard rock and metal. Overrated, oversaturated and dicey QC?? Yeah. To be sure. But my Floyded SG Diablo and custom Axcess Les Paul do an admirable job after the kinks were ironed out.
BC Rich- I enjoyed my Gunslinger, ST III and the Ironbird was killer.
My Music Man JP6. I had some issues at first with it but once I sorted them out. It's an absolute player. Really liek the neck feel on it. Now I want another one with the piezo PU as the one I have doesn't have that option.
Same for me! The Petrucci bridge works as well as a Floyd. Very comfy guitar to play.

My Jacksons/Charvels have always been my favorites and I don't forsee that changing any time in the near future. They remain the yardstick by which all others have to measure up to Having said that, here are some others I own and like:
Gibson Les Pauls: I especially like the Les Paul Custom 68 Reissue models as well as the Norlin era, or Norlin reissue customs.
ESP: Nice shredder guitars but still prefer my Jacksons.
EBMM: JP6 is a really nicely made guitar. The neck is way different than my Jacksons, ESPs, Les Pauls, etc... but its a high quality guitar with tons of tonal options (mine has the piezo pickup too).
Fender: Nice Strats, like nice Les Pauls, belong in everyone's guitar collection. Strats have a pretty unique tone. The models I have are the older Jeff beck Strat, Eric Johnson Strat, and my old Strat Elite which is the first Strat I bought and has been with me since around 1983-1984. In 1986 The pickups were replaced with Duncan Hot Live Wires and a Kahler Pro added. That along with my Charvel Model 6 were my main/only guitars for many years!
GMP: Don't have one but one of these days I need to order a V from Dan Lawrence just because
Obviously it's J/C at the top of the tree, then..............
ESP/LTD
BC Rich
Ibanez
Fender
Wouldn't mind a Kramer or Carvin either.
Ive not had the opportunity to try anything from Caparison, Agile or Schecter.
Every Gibson I played was shit, just me? maybe, maybe not, I just don't like them.
Have played almost all the guitars mentioned on this thread. There are a lot of good ones.
Rico Jr. is a good choice.
ESP however mise as well have a Jackson IMO
Hamers - Depends on what you like. Many are 24-3/4" scales with 1-5/8" nuts and medium frets. Too small for my taste and this includes the Californians. Good guitars though. Most of them somewhat dark sounding but I have seen some bright as hell. Fender just closed Hamer - so if you want one get it now before prices go up.
Robin Medley - great guitars bar none. As good as any high end shredder out there.
Suhr Modern although I like my Rico much better.
EBMM - another nice option but as others have said a really different neck.

Better check your facts, Shred. Cali's have always been 25.5 inch scale. Yeah, they have medium frets but that's to accommodate fingers in the confines of the 24th - 27th frets.
