  • Other favorite guitar makers besides J/C?

I love Jackson/ Charvel guitars. For me, they are my number one guitar guitar company. I love their feel and mojo. That said, there are other guitar companies whose products I like too (thou not as much as J/C). I was wondering what your top 3 or 4 guitar companies are?

In order for me, I'd say-
    1. Jackson/ Charvel
    2. Caparison
    3. Vigier
    4. Dean USA

Right now, I am absolutely blown away with my Tom Anderson. Never had a guitar (bolt-on or neck thru) that sustains like this does... but 12 years on, my favourite guitar ever is my GMW.
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

        Carvin
        Hamer
Gibson LP Standards with 50`s neck and grover tuners
Peavey Destiny models because they are shredders with a the 24.75 scale
Anything 24.5 or 24.75 scale with 22 frets but don`t mind 25 scale

hmmmm, as i have gotten older my tastes have totally changed. i am down to one jackson - my PC-1 - and the rest of my collection is tonally varied. my favorite builders though are:

ibanez japan - i started on these back with the original 540S, and 25 years later ibanez japan guitars still feel like home.
brian moore - i like small frets, and my brian moore has them!! plus, it is a quality guitar that always delivers when i need it to. it can sit in the case or hang on the wall for months, and it wil be perfectly in tune when i grab it.
hamer usa - probably the perfect shredder. the necks are beyond amazing, the build quality is outstanding. my hamer diablo put every jackson i owned to shame, which is why i slowly sold off every one of them except the PC-1....if i were ever to get back into shred guitars i would scoop up every USA diablo and centura i could find.
fender - give me a bone-stock fender any day of the week and i will be happy. i love strats, teles, jazzmasters, jaguars, duo-sonics - and i have all of them in my studio. each has character and an identifiable tone.
          GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

          and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Other than Jackson (never owned a Charvel) I'd have to say Gibson, Dean, BC Rich, and Ibanez.

I'm strictly J/C, but that Kramer Pacer I just got has the best neck that I've played on. I can't put that one down, it's climbed to my #1

Ibanez has always been on and off my list, but has really jumped up lately especially the high end prestiges

Kramer because some of the necks are just amazing
                Haters gonna hate
Dilluting the brand one MUTT at a time.

Gibsons. My Gibsons are pretty much my best sounding and playing guitars.
J/C's. Still love the J/C's. Sometimes they need a little pickup tweaking. The majority of my axes.
ESP's (older real MIJ ESP's from the 1990's or earlier) - only have 2
Ibanez (older real MIJ Ibanez's from the 1990's or earlier) - only have 2
Only have 1 Kramer - a Made in Korea Music Yo but it's nice.
Only have one BCR - a USA ST-III but it's nice.
MIM Fenders are ok, got a handful

My Music Man JP6. I had some issues at first with it but once I sorted them out. It's an absolute player. Really liek the neck feel on it. Now I want another one with the piezo PU as the one I have doesn't have that option.

If I couldn't have a Soloist, it would be a ESP M-II. I have one that plays just as well as my Jacksons and resonates really well.

I'll also give a nod to Carvin for not only being good to lefties for all of these years, but also offering a mind boggling set of options that can be built and delivered in 8 weeks or less. My only wish for Carvin would be for them to offer name brand pickups. I don't think there's anything wrong with their own, but I think a lot of people prefer getting a known entity (SD or DiMarzio).

this is mainly what killed my carvin order. i played a used carvin at GC (it was a DC200 with stock pickups) and it sounded like a dog. i tried it with several amps, but it was a turd no matter what....

i bought a new les paul instead....

Was that the trans pink you were having made, or a different Carvin?
