That's looking very cool Sully! I especially like the shape of the upper bout and horn. They are actually unique for a change. Most manufacturers seem to stick too close to the LP shape. I see you are recessing the bridge. Is that because you build without a neck angle, or some other reason?
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.
Love it Sully! If it plays half as good as it looks, you've got a keeper for sure. The Korina is stunning!
"I have so much gayness at times. My wife walks in my music room, and there I am, in my undies, listening to "Sister Christian" while lighting fireworks..doin' blow." - Bill Z
"I leave off the back plate and pinch my forskin between the tension springs. That may not work for everyone. But I find that the people love it. Half the tone is in the pud." - Bill Z
The first one has been completed for a while now. Will be doing the demo video this weekend with Pete.
Specs:
Limba body with forearm bevel and very contoured back
3pc Limba neck
Set neck construction
Rosewood fretboard, MOP backslash inlays
Stainless steel jumbo frets
Tone Pros TOM/string thru
Gotoh tuners
Pickups are Habanero classics
The second one is being painted at the moment; honeyburst in a pattern that doesn't go all the way around the perimeter. It'll follow the contour of the body, and I cannot wait to see how it looks with finish on it. Please excuse the pencil lines on the body!
Here it is with a quick "throw some strings on it and make sure it's structurally good before sending it off to paint" setup. The pickups for the finished version will be zebra Habanero pickups, of course.
Specs:
Quartersawn Honduran Mahogany body
Flame maple top (flat top, but back contours)
Set neck construction
Quatersawn Honduran Mahogany neck (scarf jointed)
Ebony fretboard with MOP backslash inlays
Ivoroid binding all around with tortoiseshell binding at the side position markers
Stainless steel jumbo frets
Pickups will be Habanero Spicy (bridge) and Habanero Classic (neck) in a zebra configuration
TonePros wraparound bridge
I found some more angel step patterned quilt and started another one a few months ago. This one will most likely be trans blue with cosmo black hardware (and a floyd).
Specs:
Mahogany body with angel step patterned quilt top
Honduran mahogany neck with an ebony headstock overlay
Ebony fretboard with MOP backslash inlays
Stainless steel jumbo frets
Ivoroid binding all around with black side position blocks
Gotoh floyd, cosmo black hardware
Trans blue finish
Habanero pickups (most likely zebra)
I'm planning on doing some limited runs of these in their different configurations, but more on that later; I gotta get the carved top version underway. CANNOT wait for that. This top (curly Imbuya) will be set aside for one of the limiteds. I know it's kinda nuts, but I can see the Trans Am thunder chicken in the figure!
Super excited about how these are coming out. I hope you like them!
