Found this in a backwoods pawn shop. I was thinking STIII, but the neck is painted, so who knows. The headstock almost looks off...like it's not shaped just right and I can't find much on it online. I got it for less than what the kahler is worth, so I wasn't too worried about what model it is. Turns out, it plays pretty nice too.
I still keep practicing though.... Mostly because I hate my neighbors.-MakeAJazzNoiseHere

NJ series ST-3, made in japan, usually nice guitars. that is the headstock they used on many NJs of that era.

That's an earlier model with the Kahler, and bezels for the single coils, which usually means the body is made of maple, and actually made in Japan. Ones with Floyd's/Edge's are Korean made with basswood bodies.

Congrats! I have a Korean one with a LFR and the same paint!

if you can find the neckthru NJs from that era they are great. lots of them as good as a USAs but not as pretty.

That's kinda why I never liked the NJ series. They always had something ugly about them compared to the US counterparts.

It's the body and the headstock shape. I have a USA ST-III and I love everything about it.
