  • I'm finally getting back to my projects - pointy fans might like this one.

This one's been sitting around for a couple of years now (actually, all of my projects and builds have been), but I finally got back in to gear, and routed the neck pocket today. I actually made myself an adjustable neck angle jig too. However, I probably won't be doing any more bolt on guitars. I just don't really see the point. I did this one because I had this neck sitting around, and figured I'd use it for something.

The body is maple wings, with a mahogany centre section. There is also a 1/2" X 1/2" thick strip of flame maple inlaid into the centre section. Even with the maple wings, it's not a heavy guitar. I think it will be very comfortable when it's done.

Cool! I ordered my 7-string Carvin with a maple body and five-piece mahogany/maple neck, and it's also not that heavy.

I first read this last night, and thought to myself "wtf picture is Ron looking at?". Now I realize you must be kidding. The body is probably pretty close in overall size to an Explorer. It's definitely bigger than either of my Lados. I find there are too many pointy guitars that are made for small dudes, like the BC Rich Stealth, and even the Warrior looks too small on me. So, I made this one with that in mind.

I like the looks of it.

He might have said stubby from the look of the lower left and upper right "stubs"? Can't really call them horns or points. The upper right looks from a mocking bird.

I like it. It has a nice flow to it. I think it would look great in Ferrari red with black bevels.

That upper horn doesn't look that long; probably an optical illusion. I like bodies where the upper wing is longer than the lower, ie, Explorer, Warrior, Rhoads, Stealth, Star, etc etc

If you could tung-oil it in just bare wood grain like the picture shows, it would look cool!

That's pretty damn accurate man. I didn't plan on that, but the top half does look like the top half of a Mockingbird, and the bottom right does look very Warlockish.
