It just doesn't seem like a lot of thought was put into it. Sorry to sound like a douche, but I put a lot of time into mine. I messed around with the design a lot to get it the right size, and to get the proportions right. I still think it could use a little tweaking to be honest, and since I'll be building a neck-thru version soon, you might notice some minor changes.

I'm almost decided on the finish, but who know, I might change my mind. I want to do something like this:

I can appreciate extreme shapes and I like what you did there. I definitely see a Mockingbird, a Warlock and a pointier version of a Stealth in there!

I'm gonna take that as a compliment, based on the source.

Thanks! Yeah, I was always a fan of the old BC Rich guitars. I love the old trans finish & stringers look. The guitar I just started on is a copy of an Aria Pro Urchin U-100 with a 5 piece neck, walnut & padauk stringers, and figured sycamore wings. Sort of my own take on the classic BC Rich style.

The guitar in this thread is now routed for bridge pickup (no neck pickup on this one), and I'm going to finish up carving the body while I wait for the hardware to come in.

I like the shape. It is tough to come up with something unique that flows and fits well. I think you will do well with this one.

                    Thanks!

I have nothing but the utmost respect for Neil's guitar building skills, and a couple of his designs are just perfect IMO. The Bich in particular is one of my all time favorite guitar shapes. However, I completely agree that a lot of the newer designs are far too radical for my tastes.

That first pic looks like a cross between an Exreme Kelly and a Moser.

                            Thanks Sully!

Here's the Urchin I just started on. I just got the neck blank glued up today, The wings aren't glued on yet. They're just there to get an idea what it's going to look like.

I've always wanted an Urchin U-100, but they are as rare as hen's teeth, and bring big bucks when they do come up for sale. So, I gave up waiting for one to come along and decided to build my own. The U-100s had a full pre-amp similar to the early BC Riches. This one won't have the full electronics, but it will have a pre-amp booster activated by a mini toggle, and adjustable via an internal trim pot.

Anyway, here's another pic. Got the headstock wings on.
