Nice work Zeegler!! Love the lamination dimensions and wood choices. Try indexing your fingerboard and your neck black with some kind of doweling system. It only takes one degree of shift on a 25.5 inch scale to move things enoough to notice.

Good advice Mike thanks. I'm going to try that with the next one. I've heard of guys using the tip of a nail, or something like that to keep the fretboard from shifting.

Staple gun and cut the horizontal part off after putting the staple in the neck. Put it in near the truss rod. Then when you cut off the part of the staple, it will leave you with two very sharp pins. I have used that method for years. Even in scarf joints on necks.

Oh, and I decided to go with 2 pickups in the Raptor bolt-on. I figure if I sell this one, it will be easier to sell with dual hums. So, the body is almost finished at this point. I just have to route the electronics cavity.

Just realized I haven't posted any updates in this thread for a while. Here's a few pics of some things I've been working on lately.

First up: the Lazer gets chopped up! I had used a reclaimed neck from an old Washburn HM-20V, and I came to the conclusions that, A: This wouldn't be 100% mine if I used a reclaimed neck, and B: a neck thru would suit this guitar better anyway. So....

Here is that same neck. It has now become part of Raptor number 1. I consider the bolt on Raptor a prototype, so this one is officially number 1. I was midway through carving the bevels here.


I think the white ash looks gorgeous. Too bad it's a pain to work with.
