  • Vivian Campbell GMP 'Les Paul'

    This is hilarious!!

Recently Dan Lawrence re-finished several Genuine Gibson Les Pauls for Vivian Campbell to use in the current Las Vegas run of 'Viva Hysteria' at the 'The Joint' venue at the Vegas Hard Rock Hotel & casino.

At the end of the refinish process...Dan jokingly taped GMP logos over the Gibson logos!!! They were so well done, you couldn't tell from 5 feet away.

Apparently Vivian has left the logos on there and is playing them live....see below for one example!

BTW: Def Leppard never sounded better in Vegas and if you have the opportunity to go & see them, I highly recommend it!! They play 2 sets. In the first they are stripped down and play mostly 'On Through The Night" and 'High N' Dry' stuff and the second-set-main-event is the 'Hysteria' album performed in order in it's entirety.....

I know Vivian loves his Les Pauls but really dislikes Gibson's customer service.

LOL I understand Dan went to the show, so was that just done for his benefit?

No I don't think so because Viv's had the the guitars for a few months now....Yeah I went with Dan & his wife & some friends.

It was the second night of 11 shows. They sounded great but I suspect there was some vocal (lead and backup) 'trickery' going on...it sounded *too* good for live.

            Still a GREAT show.

Viv looks like he's lost a little weight.

Yes he has!! Overheard some conversation at the show among the 'crew' that Viv has been on a diet an has been really watching what he eats. He looks great, in prime shape.

I guess if you're standing opposite PC, you're gonna have to watch the calories a little bit LOL Mind you, at least Viv has hair...

I think a lot of bands do that nowadays. I read something about U2 doing that awhile ago so they sounded the same for people up front as well as in the back.
I went to some Rockstar Mayhem festival a couple years ago, my fiance mentioned something about the singer from Avenged Sevenfold sounding too good... and that guy's voice normally sounds shitty to begin with!

Oh, that's definitely going on at a DefLep show. They've been doing that for years with their vocals, especially backup harmonies.

I have to say that Dan is doing a great job of reviving GMP. I am very happy to see the hard work that Dan, Kim,Glen and the rest of the crew have been paying off for them.

Always a good thing when a company like that is revived and done right.
