Get one of those carvin neck through blanks and use the walnut as wings. If you do a v or something like this i think you wouldn't have any troubles.

And btw you don't need heaps of tools like a stewmac jockey. You can do most guitar stuff with just basic hardware tools.

I'm not sure what to do, right now I'm just like a kid in a candy store. I measured it and it's 4 3/4" X 15" X 50" I can make at most 6 S bodies out of it. Now that you mention a neck through blank from Carvin I'm all a mess. Yeehaw!!!

          Check out these on ebay

Or this one with walnut and maple would go really well with the walnut wings.

No body angle on those. That means you're extremely limited in what to use for a bridge, unless you recess the bridge. I prefer to build my own properly.

essentially making a gibson is not my plan aiiiiiiiiiii

Ahhh fuck having a tom style bridge anyway haha. I find hardtail bridges are the go because they are seated on the body better, But hey different strokes for different blokes. And what i find funny about your statement is that it works both ways. If you have a neck angle in most cases it will not work as well with hardtail non tremolo style bridges. This is off course dependent on the angle etc/

Well progress is slow as i am really busy at the moment with other projects.
Any way i did the electronics cavity, battery and jack. I tried to do the jack cavity with just a chisel and hammer i don't know why but it didn't turn out all the best. Either way the jackplate will hide the chip on the edge.

The Paulownia is so damn soft its unbelievable. Its softer then cheapo pine wood from burnings. Its even as soft as balsa. well almost

Dang, that's moving right along. I still haven't got mine started. Feeling a bit lazy, seeing yours getting done.

I finally got some time to work on the project and.............Disaster struck. My drill press head/chuck thingy developed some play when i was drilling the last 3 larger inlay holes. Anyway being the dumbass i am i didn't notice until i finished the last one.

It sort of makes me wanna cry a bit :frowny I dont really know if i can fix it or if its even worth it. It doesn't look all bad but it isn't perfect. Oh well i guess my strong point is finishes and i this is my first complete build but still. ARRRRGHhhhhhhhhhh@#@#$#@#$#@$#

Wow, that sucks. I really hope you can fix it. Having come this far, I'm sure it's absolutely worth it.

well i just laid some of the fret wire on it around the bad areas adn cleaned up the fretboard. And its not that noticeable at all. It actually almost looks like it was intentional haha

Well, generally Gibsons are set neck, not neck thru, and plenty of other manufacturers build guitars with a neck angle.

Not better, just different. If you mean they have more contact area, that's true, but it really doesn't mean anything when it comes to how the guitar sounds, or how structurally sound it is. I don't mind either bridge, but I prefer TOMs.

I haven't come across a case where this is true. Sure, you couldn't really put a hardtail bridge on a Les Paul, but who in their right mind would do that anyway. Even with a hardtail bridge, I would still use 1 - 1.5 degrees of neck angle for a couple of reasons. First, an angled neck is just naturally more comfortable to play, and second, on a hardtail bridge, I like to have the bridge saddles up as high as possible to increase the break angle over the saddle. This increases downward pressure on the saddles, and apparently improves sustain.

Admittedly, there's a lot more work involved in building a neck with neck angle, but I just prefer it that way.

^^ i don't think we will agree on this even know i know your right . I honesty prefer no angle over an angled neck. Either way i dont get a choice with this build well atleast now i dont

Here is a better picture of the inlays after i cleaned them.

I don't think i am going to worry about fixing it. I was thinking i could stain the maple black and inlay it with pearl dots or something but its a lot of extra work and i do really like the look of the marblewood dots on maple.

What do you guys think i should do?
